28 April 2015 submitted by Jasmin, United States of AmericaQ. Does Chris have an O or a circle permanently tattooed on his left hand or was it just drawn on? THE ORACLE REPLIES: Unlike the MTF equals sign that Chris used to have drawn on his hand, the O is a permanent tattoo. It's not necessarily the tattoo that Chris sings of in Ink as the O wasn't his first. submitted by Cinthia, Argentina
Q. HOLAA !I wanted to check, I have planned to visit Rome in May 2015, I heard that possibly would do a concert there! This is confirmed? Would be great to be on vacation in Rome and see the concert of my favorite band! Greetings from Argentina! Peace and love;) THE ORACLE REPLIES: If it was confirmed, we would have announced it and you'd see it here. As you can see, we have no current tour dates. I'm receiving lots of messages about live dates that are circulating the Internet - please ignore all rumours.

submitted by Guillaume, France Q. Dear Oracle! On the Live 2012 Cd there is writing Charlotte. Who is Charlotte? Why is it written on it? Thank you!
THE ORACLE REPLIES: The question is not 'who is Charlotte?', but 'where is Charlotte?' Charlotte is the largest city in the U.S. state of North Carolina. The band played at the Time Warner Cable Arena on the Mylo Xyloto tour, hence its name appearing on the Live 2012 disc along with many other cities they performed in.
submitted by Ariel, Guatemala Q. Hi Oracle, I was wondering what were the 10 Commandments Brian Eno gave the band when they began working on MX? Thanks, Ariel
THE ORACLE REPLIES: Brian's Ten Commandments are still on the wall of their studio. I'm afraid I can't disclose them in their entirety - I'd feel like I was betraying a secret somehow. Most are music related but one that I really like is, "Cook like an Italian".

30 April 2015 submitted by Filippo, ItalyQ. Dear Oracle, I wanted to know more about the instrumental track called Aiko which is in the Live 2012 DVD. Where does its name come from? When was it recorded? Was it released somehow? Thank you in advance. THE ORACLE REPLIES: I don't know of it as a song. I have seen people saying that Aiko is the instrumental piece in Will's interview segment of the DVD but I haven't seen anything to confirm that - despite reading people who claim that it is in the credits. The name Aiko appears in the DVD booklet (one of Chris' doodles) - it's the name of Mylo's Dad (his parents are Aiko and Lela). If it is also the name of the instrumental, it will have been recorded during the MX sessions but obviously it hasn't been released or it would be in the Recordings section of the site. submitted by Brooke, United States of AmericaQ. Dear Oracle, was the artist who illustrated the Atlas music video the same person who illustrated the A Sky Full of Stars single art? The art styles are quite similar. Thank you! THE ORACLE REPLIES: The Atlas video illustrations were by Micah Lidberg but, as with all the Ghost Stories artwork, the ASFOS single art was by Mila Furstova.

1 May 2015 / submitted by Patrick, Ireland Q. TEAM ORACLE QUESTION #213 I'm 27 years, never properly travelled or lived away from home. I'd love to live in a city like London for a year or at least I think I do. Is it wise at my age or should I stick to my career and save money (I'm an Environmental Health and Safety Graduate). I also come from a Farm and always feel guilty when I'm away not helping Dad, (even though I don't really enjoy it and probably not much good at it, ha). Anyway What do you think?? THE ORACLE REPLIES: A couple of things leapt out of your question for me. Firstly, you say you'd love to live in a city and add, "at least I think I do". It's not a decision I'd take lightly so I think you have to be sure. Secondly, you mention feeling of guilt about leaving your Dad's farm. It may disappoint your Dad if you leave but it's your life and you must do what makes you happy. If you don't enjoy helping on the farm, regardless of your ability - that you also question - it's time to talk to your father and tell him how you feel about it. You don't say why you feel staying in your job & saving money is important. I can't help wondering whether you think that's what is expected of you. 27 may seem to be the age where you settle down and save for the future but it's never too late to make changes. In a nutshell, if you have the desire to live elsewhere, now is the time to do it - regardless of age. Life's too short to procrastinate. Over to you. I think it is time for you to take a break. Take a year off and go to London. Ask a friend to join you. Maybe you can get an extra job and rent an apartment together. Listen to the text in Fix You if you never try you'll never know! I wish you good luck and all the best! Love, Ann-Sofie from Sweden.
This is the perfect age for you to start traveling. Not that it's your last chance, but it would be better if you start now. This is because the financial losses that come along with this may be recovered through your job, unlike at an old age where one cannot take such risks with money. As for your father, I think you should help him as much as you can but also take care of your life. Try and balance both. I personally don't do this because I always feel that I am not giving people enough, even if I dedicate most of my time taking care of others. Try not to be like me, it's truly frustrating. I hope everything works out. Love, Solaf.
Patrick, sometimes I have to think a little bit more before giving an answer, but this one came up immediately. DON'T DOUBT IT. One of the best things you can do in life is to travel. Seeing other places, getting to know other cultures. It opens your mind. It enriches you so much as a person. I meet people from all over the world every week (I go to social meetings where you can practise different languages, meet new people, make friends). And I want to travel the world myself. There's not a person I've met that regretted for a single moment having gone on the adventure of traveling. I have friends that came to my country in student exchange programs and stayed for six months or a year. I also have a friend that stayed in Japan for a year and another one that stayed in the USA for the same period. They all were scared when they were about to take that big step, but none of them regrets it. Not a bit. And they all agree that it was an experience of personal growth. You're young. This is the perfect moment to go on an adventure. You'll have time to settle down. You could even get a job abroad for a year. I'm sure your father will be happy to know that you are happy enjoying life. Besides that, you can keep helping him when you go back home. Be brave and go for it. Noelia, Argentina.
A friend told me once "It's never to late for anything" and it some sort of became my attitude in life and it should be yours too. I believe that life is full of opportunities, you should always be open minded to take the risk, try new stuff and not to be afraid of changes. Don't miss opportunities given to you or you will wake up one day regretting that you never tried. "If you never try you will never know" may seems cliche but it's 100% true. I am 27 years old as you and you are definitely still young. A lot of people changed up their lives at much older age. Wish you the best of luck. Dahlia, Egypt.
Honestly, I think that travelling is the experience of a life-time and now sounds like the right time for you to do it! I was 19 when I travelled to Canada and even lived there for some months. Sure it was scary at first, going off on your own to see the world, but it was also an experience and an adventure I'll never forget. I'm 25 now and about to graduate. I'm going to travel around Australia and New Zealand for six months in September! Sure your career is important, but if you haven't found your dream job yet, why not take the opportunity to see something of the world, it'll look good on your resume too. I'm sure that if you talk to your dad about it he'll understand and might be more supportive then you think. Later when you have a job/family you probably won't be able to help him out all the time either. I do recommend going on holiday to England/London or wherever first before you decide to actually live there. Fair warning; once you start travelling you might find it hard to stop! Good luck, Amanda from los Paises Bajos.
I think that you should try to stick at your career & earn some money first until you have big enough money. Try to be open to your father & tell what you really want to tell him & if he understands you, then try to spend your free time to travel or away from home or live in your dream city & try to go back to your father's place if you have some time. Sometimes you should follow what you really dream before & never give up on your dream. Gerd.
If you feel something inside of you, you should research it and take it serious. Especially when you get that idea at such mature age when you have finished your studies and you have worked already, you seem ready for life. That's not just a teenage adventure and wish for travelling and having fun (which is also good), but I think it's more than that; it's a message that you're not done yet, that you can't stop and settle down there, something unexplored calls you and... you should go for it. That's my opinion. I'd probably always choose to leave rather than stay and I believe in changes and exploring new and unknown. You've lived there whole life and don't feel guilty now because your wish for leaving is your truth now. We are all planned to leave our parents and our home, that's normal. The most important is what you'll find there where you'll go. Maybe you'll return at the end and work on farm because you'll realize that you actually enjoy it. But if you decide to stay there, then you'll know that you found your happiness. I must say that I think that you won't be satisfied if you stay and you know it, you are just afraid of that step but take courage, don't think of it too much, just do it and live it because you're not doing anything evil or egoistic. Remember: " You're in control, is there anywhere you want to go? You're in control, is there anything you want to know? The future's for discovering, The space in which we're travelling..." Good luck on your journey! Love, Kamili.
First of all, I have to say that I love Ireland, is one of the countries I want most to visit and maybe even live in. You're 27, that does not mean a thing, you are young and you can go and see the world if that's what your heart wishes to do. I'm 10 years younger than you, but you wouldn't believe the plans I've made for my life. I dream to see London, Dublin, New York, Chicago, I dream to go to The Glastonbury Festival and dance until my feet ache, I dream to see the world one day, that's my dream, that's my hope and more importantly, that's what keeps me going. If you think about your father and his farm, you have to think about yourself as well, think about what's best for you. Because if you're not happy, I don't think your close ones will be either. The catch is, "Dream as if you'll live forever, and live as if you'll die today!" Don't waste any second of this so precious and short life, because you may not have another. Don't live to regret that you didn't lived in London, don't regret that you didn't visit Australia or Italy, live in a way you'll be glad to tell your children and grandchildren about. I hope I helped!! Take care of you, smile and live a long and happy life!! Go in an adventure and see the world blossoming in front of you! Lots of Love from Romania!! Madalina.
Never is too late to do what you want to do. It could be a dream you had since you were a kid or a challenge you set a year ago. Just go for what you want and think could help you to be a better human being. Don't be afraid because "if you never try you'll never know". And I think there aren't any excuses to chase your dreams. I'm sure you'll find another way to help your parents not just in the farm. Any help you give them is worthy and that will make them happy. Good luck, Isabel. Q. WHO'D LIKE TO JOIN TEAM ORACLE?
As you may know, we have a weekly feature, Team Oracle, whereby each Friday we open questions of a personal nature to all of you to answer too. I will post a selection of the best answers, alongside my own reply.
ANYONE can join in so, if you'd like to, please email your response to the following question, in no more than 250 words, to theoracle@coldplay.com.
Please note the closing date is midnight Thursday 14 May, as I'll be away next week.
There's a guy who seems really interested in me, and he's kind and all, I kind of like him, but I'm not really sure if I want a relationship. However I'm 20, and I've never had a relationship before, and it just feels like once I have to have one. I have to start somewhere, and somehow it just feels very fast. Should I try and go along with it, hoping it will actually turn out to be good, or not being sure about it should be a warning sign? How can I know if I'm ready? Thanks for your answer in advance, Liza, Hungary.
Look forward to reading your replies. The Oracle
THE ORACLE REPLIES: Please email your replies with TEAM ORACLE in the subject line to theoracle@coldplay.com Including your twitter address may result in a follow back.

5 May 2015 submitted by Esther, United KingdomQ. In 2001 I remember seeing Coldplay play Leicester's Victoria Park as part of Radio 1's One Big Sunday. I've searched and searched for video footage of this gig as it would have been the first time I saw them live. Just wondered if you have any footage lurking about, I'd love to relive it. I remember they played songs from Parachutes and their encore was God Put a Smile Upon Your Face. Amazing!!! Hope you can help. x THE ORACLE REPLIES: Back on September 2, 2001 the band did indeed play Victoria Park, Leicester as part of Radio 1's One Big Sunday. I'm afraid we don't have any footage and as far as I can tell, there is nothing online from that show either. You can read about it here. The setlist that day was: Shiver Don't Panic Trouble Yellow As you say, the encore was God Put a Smile Upon Your Face. submitted by Ben, United States of AmericaQ. Almighty Oracle, what happened to the MX artwork after it was displayed in Camden Town? I would love to see it if it is still on display somewhere! Thanks, Ben. THE ORACLE REPLIES: The purpose of the MX exhibition was to raise funds for Kids Co. Whether sold at the gallery or via the online auction, all items are now sold out.

6 May 2015 submitted by Peter, United KingdomQ. Dear Oracle, where was this photo taken? I've seen many versions of it and am dying to know. Thanks. Peter. THE ORACLE REPLIES: Hmm, that looks like it could be Catania Centrale Railway Station. It's definitely from the Violet Hill shoot. As that was filmed in and around Catania (Sicily), it seems highly likely the photo was also taken in that region. submitted by Vanna, PhilippinesQ. Q: Oracle, can you imagine how the guys would look like if they do a cover with matching music video of Spice Girls' song Wannabe? THE ORACLE REPLIES: Ha ha! This is something I'd rather not imagine but couldn't help it. Who would be which Spice Girl? Surely it has to be: Chris Sporty (flexibility) Guy Posh (brooding looks) Jonny Ginger (flecks of ginger in his beard) Will Scary ("The frightening one who plays drums") Phil Baby (despite not being the youngest - it's the rosy cheeks). submitted by Noely, ArgentinaQ. Hello Oracle, I found this and I'd like to know what is MIN. 5:22-5:25. It's the same place where was recorded the In My Place video (I'm sorry, my English is bad!) Cheers. THE ORACLE REPLIES: It's just footage that was filmed - but not used for the final cut - from the In My Place video shoot. That room is in the Saatchi Gallery, London.

7 May 2015 submitted by Aidan, New ZealandQ. Hi Oracle, who plays all the other instruments like strings on Viva la Vida for the live tours? THE ORACLE REPLIES: Will & Miller (off stage) trigger the playback on certain tracks. The band obviously can't have every single instrument played live as it appears on the albums. The way songs are recorded, there may also only be one person who multitracks / layers their part also so it would be impossible for someone to play several parts live. As you say, the strings for example... Everything you see being played, is being played live. submitted by Miriam, ItalyQ. Hello Oracle, on Wikipedia Ghost Stories there are dates of concerts in Europe ... and this was true? Thanks. THE ORACLE REPLIES: Wikipedia mentions the band embarked on a tour - past tense. There were European dates (and elsewhere) last year (2014) so be mindful that any dates you see connected with Ghost Stories will have already happened. submitted by Duy, VietnamQ. Does the band like Sigur Ros? Because they covered Svefn-g-englar and they even sampled Takk. I love both bands so it's really nice if Coldplay like them. THE ORACLE REPLIES: Absolutely! Coldplay have been fans of Sigur Ros for many years. For anyone unfamiliar with Sigur Ros, check out Takk. As Duy mentioned, Princess of China incorporates elements of Takk.

submitted by Diana, Colombia Q. One day I was listening Lost! in my iPod, and I suddenly noticed that the cover of this song is like a map (well, that's what I think it is) and it says in the background Matto Grosso, so I have two questions about this, dear Oracle: - Do you know what Matto Grosso means? - And if it is a real place, why does it appear in the cover of the single Lost!? Thank you for your answer. Hope to see Coldplay here in Latin America soon.
THE ORACLE REPLIES: The correct spelling is Mato Grosso and it is indeed a real place - in Brazil. It appears a couple of times. It's also on the inside cover of the Viva la Vida album (the blue image that was also used for Glass of Water's artwork). I don't know why it's specifically used for Lost! (or on the other tracks / album artwork).
submitted by Jon, United Kingdom Q. What's the meaning of the song Ode to Deodorant?
THE ORACLE REPLIES: I once asked Chris (a very long time ago) and he seemed puzzled by my question. I had assumed it was an analogy for something else but he told me the song is actually about deodorant.

12 May 2015 submitted by William, United States of AmericaQ. Why doesn't Chris attend to his apparently dead woman friend and simply walk past her? Also, What was the basketball game and city walking meant to symbolize? A journey with life without her in a sped up summarized way? That still then doesn't explain the ending on a mattress in a BMX park. THE ORACLE REPLIES: For anyone who is confused by this question, William is referring to The Scientist video. The concept is simply based around the line, "...back to the start", hence the backwards narrative. Wikipedia doesn't give much more away but back in 2002, Jamie Thraves discussed the video in the band's official Ezine: "I have to admit I did have a backwards video idea. It was very different but I couldn't believe it when I heard the lyrics, it just amplified the idea. There was an element of a happy ending with bittersweet emotion. It happened with Just*, I just think sometimes that an idea and a song come together like marriage and I couldn't pass up that opportunity. It was a narrative backwards. I spent a long time thinking about the fact that if you watch it as a story, rewound it makes perfect sense. I had enough time to do it and it was almost shot in sequence. The first shot that was filmed was them in the car at the end. It was meant to be as if it was forwards, so basically, I had to work in reverse. I had to visualize the camera angles and work out if it was going to show Chris walking from the right to the left. I had to visualize the cameras movements and then reverse it, it was really mind-boggling. As tough as it was and stressful, it was a lot of fun. I'm really pleased with the end result". *Radiohead video that Jamie also directed. I think you may just have to suspend your reality, William. Music videos are (obviously) not real so don't read too much into what happens in any of them - they don't always make sense or relate to the lyrics. FYI: Elaine Cassidy - the woman in the video - is currently starring in Paul Abbott's comedy drama, No Offence. submitted by Corina, Italy
Q. Ciao Oracle! Do you happen to know when Avicii's song Heaven (feat. Chris Martin) will be officially released ? Thank you so much! THE ORACLE REPLIES: Avicii's album, Stories, hasn't been released yet and I haven't heard confirmation of what singles will be taken from it. The first was The Days (featuring Robbie Williams) but I expect Avicii will announce any release news via his twitter or on his website.

"I think you may just have to suspend your reality, William. Music videos are (obviously) not real" LOL But seriously, it makes perfect sense to me. He walks past her, wanders around in the woods and ends up laying on an old discarded mattress in the street because the accident has traumatized him and he's in wandering off in a daze, right? I just love this video, it's genius.
