It was great to see them in Cologne and it was a dream come true to hear them live (you just have to love that band! )but I have seen a better concert before, if I am honest. I don't think that it will be so much different from what I have seen and heard. The only thing that was truly live was Chris' voice. I'd be the first to ask for a ticket for an acoustic concert It would be different, if the concert took place in Berlin. There are financial reasons as well. I would have to pay for the bus tickets, for a stay in Munich for one night and for the concert. Altogether, the trip would cost about 200€ and that's something for a student who doesn't earn money

Yes I know money was an issue, and knew it when I typed it, and understand it, but I admit I had a bit of chuckle that they are coming to Germany of all places and you ended up not going.

Dustin my man! They are not in L.A. or the U.S. and coming to Germany like you've been asking, and you're not going. I see where 6 hours may be a distance for you (not for us here in the U.S. as much), but I think my eyes bugged out of my head when I saw that. Yeah, at least you saw a GS show, true. Yeah 6 hours doesn't seem very far here really, because we're so spread out. I guess it's all relative.

The video is interesting because it reflects that Coldplay know that this song is more serious and meaningful than most of the other tracks from this era. I must admit that I don't like videos without the band members though. It's a nice compilation of historical footage but it doesn't do the great song justice.

I like it. Yes it would be nice to have the band in it. But it's very moving. 100 years. Seems impossible. My Grandmother's two brothers and her fiance were all killed in the First World War. She used to tell me about it.
Edit.. ALSO this is not what I thought the song was about. Really. So it's fascinating to see.

Maybe it's right this time to not have the band in it? To focus on those it's in memory of. Would've been nice to see them a little though I'm sorry for your relatives, Row. 100 years seems like such a long time, but it isn't really, the stories are still told.

It's hard to comprehend what Coldplay do these days. First, they release bubble gum commercial music (A Sky Full Of Stars) and then they release a music video to draw attention to the first world war which happened 100 years ago.
Oh Coldplay.... for real?

Dustin. I'm sorry you feel that A Sky Full of Stars Video was bubble gum. I don't agree. But you probably knew that. Also the REASON they are drawing attention to the First World War is BECAUSE it is 100 years ago! It's the hundreth anniversary of the war. I think it is a TRULY amazing moving video. linkEngland is remembering. Coldplay are an English Band. Personally I am proud. Proud of England AND Coldplay. OK nuff said.

Oh Coldplay.... for real? add the midnight video to that. i love that video, no matter how simple and low budget it looked. i think the reason why certain videos took a more comedic route has to do with the material itself. specially a song like true love, and the time the video was released. anyway, musically GS seems to be an outsider to their previous albums in themes, roll out, touring and everything else. and ASFOS served a purpose within the album itself, although artistically it seemed inferior. anyway, let's hope for a turn to form with the next one.

Many, many thanks to comicforce for the link to the Poppies / Tower of London story. I try to keep up with international news but this was the first time I had ever read or heard about this amazing tribute. I suppose I'm one-dimensional when it comes to the band, but for many personal reasons, they can do no wrong musically. I luv that they aren't afraid to push people's buttons, nor that they feel the need to repeat something that was a success......a reason why I think some bands DO lose a lot of fans over the years. Do we love every song, every video? Probably not, no more than we love every book by a favorite author or every movie with a favorite star. What I do love is that I'm never disappointed with them. My take on this particular song was so far off the mark from what the video portrays, but leave it to CP to go the higher ground.
Long live the King(s) !

Aw, thanks for agreeing. Their music plays to all the emotions of my life, so I guess I'll always be their defender.
Just call me LeeAnne.
