Hey, I don't want to complain about the work and effort you have put into the latest theme background but I have my issues with it. Since there is this background with the flowers falling down like snow, it takes a very long time for my pc to load everything and I have to wait ages until I can get to the login page. I had the same problem with that annoying translation bar that appears all the time. (Who uses it anyway?) It just makes the website slower. The combination of both is evil.
The mobile version for the phone is basically ok (because it doesn't have that stuff) but not everything (embedded instagram photos for instance) is visible on my phone, so yeah... it's all a bit annoying.

I think we could remove the translation bar. I don't think anyone is using it.
The flower thing isn't in each theme, I thought. Row? We can remove that as well if it is really annoying.
But we can't change the mobile version. I can't see the embedded stuff either. Carina and I mostly post everything in embedded version and also in normal version. But not everyone is doing that. I wish we could change that, but unfortunally....

Maybe it's possible to make the flowers optional? They are in all themes, I think, at least in all I tried.
I can't see embedded instagrams either (sometimes). Same with tweets.
Maybe we can ask everyone to please make sure you add a link so we can look it up.
And, if you can, add text and photo below the instagram/tweet.
Mobile devices are so common nowadays, surely ProBoards will adjust the mobile version. But meanwhile.

Hi again. I hope I didn't sound too harsh. I think if the desktop website could be used without the flowers and the translation bar, it would all be fine. If something is missing in the mobile version, it would always be possible to just quickly load the desktop version then. |

sorry Dustin, I didn't know it would slow things down that much. I can remove them totally if they are causing issues. Prissie is right the translation bar can go, I don't think anyone uses is anyway. Are the flowers worse than the stars we had? Just wanting to find out what is going on.

I think the stars slowed the website down as well, yeah. The additional time it needed to load was still ok though. I think it has to do with the translation bar combined with the stars or flowers animation but I don't want it all to be taken down if I am the only one who has issues with it.

Hmm yeah... it is a bit better but not a lot LOL
Edit: I think I have found one of the main reason why things are so slow here. The Coldplay photo on top is in lossless PNG format (around 0,5 MB) and the background picture is even larger (1,6 MB) although it is in JPG format. It would be better to compress the pictures (and save both in JPG format), so that loading the images will be faster.

You can change the background or in fact choose to have no background at all if it slows it down that much.
Is anyone else having issues with this?
What browser do you use Dustin? How old is your PC? Just a few issues we need to work on.
