For me, I really do like every album on its own merits. MX gets a hard time from some, but Viva was a departure as well. Actually, to me, every album shows a different side to CP, and it's my feeling that's what they wanted. I'm not a musician, but I would think while it's good to develop a 'sound', does anyone want to be pigeon holed into that particular sound forever? I would think it would be the death of a band to sound the same every album without a bit of difference, but that's just me. They truly fall into a 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' category a lot of the time - more than any band I can remember. Chris spent a lot of his interview time this past era saying that they felt free and more relaxed to like different kinds of music and show those influences. MX had a lot of really upbeat, vibrant, fun songs, and the concerts were undeniably amazing. I feel like a protective older sister to MX because I think the band really had more fun this go 'round, felt more comfortable and seemed really upbeat and happy, which was great to see. But that said, I am really looking forward to the new album and see what they have up their sleeves this time!!

Mmm MX..it wasnt one of my favourites but I did enjoy it and seeing it performed live, seeing all those wristbands lit up is something I will never forget. There are songs that I love, UATW being a favourite but some that just didnt do it for me. I do think that it was coldplays 'lets have fun and f**k what people will think' album (not fans but media etc) I have the feeling that GS is the boys getting back to work on the grown up stuff. sorry if thats a bit harsh MX lovers but I do listen to it when I need cheering up,want a bit of a jig and will always give me warm memories of a rainy June evening surrounded by a few thousand coldplay fans going crazy to Charlie brown et al

That is almost my exact view. Although I was there the next day. Just over two years ago. Seems like only yesterday when I see that. Sigh

I love most of the songs on this CD individually but I don't see much flow between the songs like I do on the other CD's. I expected to get more of a sense of the Mylo Xyloto story in the lyrics and the flow of the songs in order but I didn't.....

I like listening to this album in order, because to me the songs do flow, but I don't to be honest really appreciate the 'story'.

I gave the album another chance and I find the songs more substantial than on Ghost Stories now. I still don't like the MX sound though :/ It all sounds a bit cheap especially when compared to the geniously arranged Viva La vida album.

I love listening to this CD on the way to work. The fast songs are perfect driving music and then when I get to UWTB at the end it gives me a great positive start to my day.
