wonder what it would be like if chris or the whole band hosted. it would be great! but sadly, won't happen i think. at least they take part in a sketch every time they are on the show, which is not for every musical guest.

They've been having more and more musical guests in sketches lately, I think they choose the ones they know have a sense of humor and are naturally funny. Chris was a given, I think SNL appreciates his humor and that's why he's been in two sketches so far. I also think it's interesting because they haven't parodied him or the band at all, they probably like the band too much to tease them.

you know i think as much as the band is flogged online, the mainstream comedians have always treated them respectively. for example, snl, jon steward, colbert, the late night shows don't parody/laugh at their expense. and if they do, that is done very minimally. i think the band have very good relationships with these people.
but more interesting to me was the chris/gwyneth situation(s) and how they were mostly spared in mainstream comedy shows. they really must have good relationships! can you imagine that snl didn't parody conscious uncoupling?? it's hard to believe actually.

I often realise how weird our sayings must sound in other languages. Not-particularly-interesting-but-still-related-fact time! I heard that in France they sometimes say 'what a cheese' instead of 'what a shame' for a joke because they sound similar. (c'est fromage/c'est dommage) Disclaimer, my primary school French teacher told me that so it may well not be true…  |

I fell with the door in the house: “Ik viel met de deur in huis”, wich means I speak directly; and I begin with the most important issues.
There is nothing on the hand: “er is niets aan de hand”, wich means eveything is allright
I shall let them smell a little poopy: “ik zal ze een poepje laten ruiken”, wich means I shall show them something they do not expect (especially in a competition)
I am keeping you in the holes: “ik hou je in de gaten”, wich means I keep an eye on you or I am watching you.
I don’t trust you for a meter: “Ik vertrouw je voor geen meter”, wich means I do not trust you at all.
It shall me a sausage be: “het zal me een worst zijn”, wich means I don’t care at all.
It’s dick black outside: “het is pik donker buiten”, wich means it is a realy dark night tonight.
Unfortunately peanutbutter: “helaas, pindakaas”, wich means sorry but this is the thing we have to deal with.
Tp participate for bacon and beans: “meedoen voor spek en bonen” wich means you participate without profit or salary.
There is no ball on tv: “er is niets op tv”, wich means there is not a fun program on television.
It walks in the soup: “het loopt in de soep”, wich means completely fail (a plan)

We have some really funny sayings (when translated to English) in German as well. Some are identical to the Dutch sayings by the way ^^

Aww I can't play that in my location.. Dammit internet..
What made me laugh today, as I followed a young lad with his jeans practically around his knees.. was the idea of going up to him and handing him a fiver and saying "here get yourself a belt". I didn't of course.. but it made me laugh to myself.. it's a HORRIBLE fashion! Isn't it??
