Do not think we are good in English!
French people are very bad with foreign languages, and it's better there wasn't any interview yesterday because you shouldn't have understood a word because of the translation (French people in general hate subtitles and there is always an awful translation at the same time people are speaking)

English and Americans generally just don't. We are lazy because we don't have to. Unless you are Chris Martin.. Just re-listening to the gig tonight and hearing him speak German.
And I think you speak English or write it anyway, Not heard you speak, VERY well! If I had to write in French on a forum, I think I would have REAL trouble LOL

You're right, you don't have to. We need to learn English, more than ever nowadays with the internet. But it's also easier for us, at least in my country we've always had sub-titles, never dubbing, so we hear English all the time everywhere. I don't think of you as lazy. People learn what they need to, and then more if they have the time, interest and resources. Many Americans know Spanish, don't they? And some Britains know... uhm... Welsh. Sorry no offence  |

In France, we're are not used in hearing English because everything is translated. I began to learn English at school when I was 10. 7 years later I couldn't make a correct sentence in English, because learning languages in French school sucks, a lot(First lesson : Where is Brian? Brian is in the kitchen). Then I studied English in college and had foreign friends with whom I could speak and I began to travel a lot too.
But I always have a strong French accent and I hate that!
When I first met Chris, I only said 4 words and Chris asked me "are you coming from France?"
I hate my accent.

Haha, I don't hate accents. As long as you can express yourself.
Our major foreign language is English, but I also studied German and French. I don't do anything with Feench, so I can't remeber the most of it. German is easier because I lived 18 years near the border with Germany.

^^ It's understandable. French once was the no 1 language in Europe, takes time and generations to move in a different direction. But honestly, in 7 years they could do better, that sucks for you. Is it going faster and better now when internet is more accessible to people? You do know that a French accent isn't seen as a bad thing? I've only ever heard that people like it.
