Someone on Twitter noted that because one guy had a shoe bomb, we have to take our shoes off at the airport. But countless people are shot, we do nothing.

People, I'm just beside myself with wondering what we are going to do with all of the violence around the world. There was a shooting in a small town church that has left 28 people dead, and for what?? Anyone in the NRA or who condones the NRA or who votes for anyone that supports the NRA - how do they look at themselves in the mirror every day?? How they can they live knowing what this is doing to our country and to our world? SOMETHING has got to change!! Yet another morning where I cannot bear to turn on the tv or see anything on the news. Thank God for solace in music and the radio. The NRA and the gun lobby is causing mass slaughter in this country. The blood of every one of these innocent lives taken is on their hands.

It's awful. :( so so sad.
Nobody really believes that guns don't kill people.. they just say that so that they are allowed to play with their dangerous toys! Argh..

Awful news yet again, what the hell is going on ??? Trump trying to justify this act by saying the shooter had mental health issues !!!! NO the issue is that he could so easily get his hands on guns...killing machines for gods sake

Yes, honistly, I think that’s the real problem. How easy you can get a gun.... But also frim the story of our members, I do ask myself if there is enough help for them who are mentaly ‘ill’.

There is not enough help, not by a longshot. It's a gun issue first, then a mental health issue second.

And they also go hand in hand. People with criminal records or mental health issues should never, ever be able to own a gun, but finding these people or making sure this doesn't happen falls through massive cracks, and this guy definitely had issues. He was court martialled and demoted before being discharged by the military for spousal and child abuse, then he abused and stalked girlfriends after that, said very strange and worrisome things, was arrested for animal cruelty and then accused of abusing his current wife. He also sent threatening messages to his current wife's family, and evidently, his mother-in-law attended this church. The list goes on and on. WHY did he own a gun, and not just a gun, but an assault weapon which is designed for one thing - killing people? I'm beyond dismayed and confused and just plain out pissed the he** off.

The news I hear today is that the Air Force did not correctly report his convictions for spousal and child abuse to the National Criminal Registry, which would have stopped him from legally owning a gun. Not that this douchebag wouldn't have found a way to get an illegal gun.... but still, if those in the Air Force had done their job, it would have been harder for him to get one.

I read an article the other day on the statistics of gun violence in the U.S., and how the left’s consistent desire to call it ‘gun control’ is what bothers conservatives. They feel their rights are being infringed because of a 200 year old amendment, which no longer applies to modern gov’t. But what it comes down to, is too many people in the U.S. value their lives over those of others. It’s maddening and disheartening. And it’s because it’s so difficult to amend the Constitution, without the mindset of the greater public changing, we may well never see better gun laws. I’m furious and really disconnected with my country. Call me unpatriotic, but I’m not proud to live in a place where so many innocent people die due to the unchecked selfishness of others. Laws and regulations should have been changed the first time—that first time, the deaths of those people where solely on the hands of the gunman. But every time another tragedy, another outrageous spree occurs, it is the NRA and people who refuse to sacrifice something for the greater good that are to blame as well. And our ‘dear’ President is perpetuating that mental health, not guns is the issue. It makes me want to scream. There are far more people in the world with mental health problems than gun owners, and many don’t overlap. Yes, there needs to be regulations to prevent those with mental health issues from attaining a weapon, but mental health isn’t the issue. Guns are. People shoot people, but they couldn’t if they hadn’t gotten the god-forsaken gun in the first place! Proponents for guns are too stupid to come to the conclusion that if nobody owned a gun for personal use, then there would be less need to protect yourself overall. And this applies to suicides as well. With more regulations on guns, to encourage safer use and protection, fewer people with die. It’s that simple. It’s pride, and selfishness, and arrogance. And I’m completely fed up with it. Apologies for my very passionate rant 😣

No need to apologize, I'm so fed up too. I used to be very patriotic, very proud of my country, and I always felt lucky to have been born here and to live here, but now unfortunately I feel less so every day. I feel disconnected too; the government no longer reflects my values and neither do many of the people around me. :(

It's no secret that I feel the same way, very fed up with so many things. I could write a book on this gun subject, but suffice to say, I agree. Sometimes I talk myself out, and it falls on deaf ears most of the time. Very disheartening.
