Wow. To say I am slightly reeling here would be an understatement. I appreciate all your comments and feelings. My god Jonnycake, that's a lot of money. Is that a reliable site? I have been at work all day and ONLY just got online now, so haven't had time to really formulate any opinions or real thoughts. My brain is all over the place. It is SO sad that they are selling it. So MUCH history there. The most favourable outcome of course is that someone (Coldplay?) buy it and let the original mods run it as we have always done. That would be 100% the best outcome. At least in my opinion. In the time being, we will of course remain here up and running, and nothing will change on that. Until we know what we are dealing with, I cannot see any reason to change. (Tash thank you for posting it here, I can completely understand how angry and hurt you must be, as are we all, having had the carpet ripped from under us, so to speak.)

Yes, I am shocked also. I can understand that it is an incredible effort to maintain such a site but I do not understand why they did the upgrade first and why we did not get a warning in time to prepare. I have e few e-mail adresses of my friends on the forum but I cannot contact any of he others unless they find us here or at the sister-forum. I do not know if my Extra-Secret-Santa gift has reached it's destination. Though I can see that I have a PM I cannot access it. I miss our little but very active forum social group. I cannot access any of the cherished threads and information, all the multimedia gems and fan-artworks. This is all so frustrating! {Spoiler} And what did I donate for??? P.S.: Hello by the way!

just think about how they could turn coldplaying into a porn website *snorts* Now that would be kinky ;D Yeah well, I haven't been on Cping that much anyway in the past few months, but it still sucks that it's down! All the cool people I know from there, I don't know any of their email addresses or anything, F**k! *SIGH* Maybe we could start a fundraiser campaign or something to get a few thousand euros together to buy a sever and get Cping up online again :S

I like the kickstarter idea! I wish we had fair warning too. the only place I wrote up my concert experience was on the concert thread, and I would often go back and read it to re-live it.
Sad that a part of us is locked up. This has taught me a lot about what I put out there on the internet and how much it means to me for any part of that to be taken away,

To anyone who has contact with any of the old CPing members: please try and spread the word!

The lack of warning really weighs heavily on my mind. I feel like someone pulled the carpet out from underneath my feet and left me lying there. Dramatic, yes. Truthful, also yes. I'm so glad to see people joining the ranks!

Well it has been a tough day to say the least. It must have been a very long and hard decision for Ian and Jen to make, one of course, they did not want to. I am happy we have this place to collect ourselves and communicate while hopefully a new owner is found for Coldplaying. I have been lurking at other band forums and some are well run and some are crap. We were so lucky!!! I viewed the National's and its just a big mess. Muse is ok and the Eric Clapton one is good too. I would love for Debs and Coldplay to take over Cping, but I just don't see that happening. If I could buy it right now I would. Going to play the lottery tomorrow for sure

I'm so glad to see people joining the ranks! That's how I felt too! Especially after all the upgrades Just Before the closure. We had so many great times and great memories there, so it really was a shock to the system. Great to have this meeting place to hold the community together in any event.

OK, then we need to set up a thread for that. I do believe Hannah has asked on her board where it is. (I didn't even know about it! ) I am sure that once word gets around then people will get in touch.

Ohmygod it's so nice to see people joining the boards, that makes me feel a bit relieved! I don't want to lose you all forever! We need to preserve our community. I was thinking about the scrapbook yesterday night!! It would be great if we could keep it going. And Thalia, a fundraiser campaign is a pretty good idea indeed! One of the reasons I wish that they had given us an update before taking the decision, was that they didn't give us the chance to try and do something. It could have been a campaign, it could have been ideas to run this place and take some of the weight for them...
Hopefully there will be one buyer for all the sites, so they can keep running together. The main site articles were mostly based on the forum, and the wiki was updated thanks to it...actually I don't see all of them not working together. So I hope the buyer will get "the package". Hopefully someone familiar with the community, that would understand how much all those archives and the community are worth to so many fans and wouldn't dare think of starting new without keeping all that we have.
Being able to find basically everything about Coldplay is definitely one of the main advantages of Coldplaying, if they delete it all for the sake of space, then they're losing the main reason why people join in the first place.
Coldplaying is a reference, not just to us, but to other communities and people as well! I mean, media got rumours from us, quoted members for fans reactions, Phil himself even consulted the site all the time!
