Even the non-music ones? So weird, will be interesting to hear what happened. I had it once replacing all my music icons. Change default player fixed that

OK, anyone any ideas on this? Since last night when I tried to download something Sharon sent me. Nothing dodgy LOL.. It was to do with a competition. ALL my desktop icons and in fact all my icons are the same. Every single one is showing VLC. It's driving me crazy. Any ideas.. Even Andy has no idea.. he is going to ask at work today (he works in IT so maybe they have come across something like this) Oh I use Windows 7 if that helps and use Chrome as my browser. Thanks anyone.. Does this help? www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/59447-3-icons-changed

Thanks guys.. it was VLC that all the icons were.. and I couldn't OPEN anything either! Very frustrating. But Andy sorted it out for me. Hubby hero award goes to... Andy. He told me to uninstall VLC.. and hey presto.. back to normal. Phew! I will have to reinstall it at some point. But I can live with that.

^ Phew what a relief! Mobile internet, smart phones and tablets are wonderful but aaaahhhh it's so nice to be back home to a real computer with all its possibilities and all my things

I am having all sorts of computer issues this week.. first the VLC thing. I reinstalled and it came back the same, so I had to uninstall it again and am trying something else.. VLC is not now an option.
THEN the proxy server thingy keeps checking and I have to keep going and unchecking it! The help that I can find online for this appears to be written for geniuses, and it makes no sense whatsoever.. I will have to get my hubby onto it at some point.
THEN my monitor, which is not even a year old has developed a large black HOLE in one corner, that is growing like a horrible cancer. Andy thinks its the LED going.. so I have been out today to buy a new monitor! Sigh..
That's three right? I should be OK now.. Fingers crossed!

Your monitor is not even a year old? It should be under warranty still, shouldn't it? The black hole can come from a more or less hot lamp (or a candle or something like that) which you placed near the monitor. Monitors don't like that

It should be under warrantee.. unfortunately 'nobody' can find the receipt. It was a Christmas present. Ah well.. I bought a new one. THIS one is super cool, almost as cool as coolplay

Nothing is as cool as coolplay....come on now.
(Except Chris. And Jonny. And Will. And Phil. And Guy. Oh, and maybe Hoppy, he's pretty cool....I'll stop now.)

Hi
I just wanted to inform you that the VLC player can be used for screen capturing as well. Maybe you didn't know that. It can be useful sometimes and it's freeware.

I have a laptop, and I want to connect it with my tv. I have a HDMI cable, but the laptop doesn't support such a cable. Is there another way to connect the laptop screen to my tv?

Which output ports does your laptop have? I think it should work with a VGA-HDMI cable. I have not seen a laptop without a VGA output port

ok thanks! I'll look for VGA-hdmi cable!! Make sure that the direction is right, though. If it's a cable from HDMI to VGA, it wouldn't work. It has to use your VGA output of the laptop and the HDMI input of the TV.
