I just heared it once (tidalx). And yes, I liked it right away.
But for this one, I am saving the second (and probably much much more times) listenings until I have the disk. :-)
At least I am going to try to wait.

The beginning is very reminiscent of the intro to A Sky Full of Stars don't you think? Yes the bass is great.
I have decided to listen to all the tracks and do a blow by blow review as I go. This is my fifth time to listen.. the other times I had to listen in the car, or at work, so this is my second time listening truly.
I love the tingly guitar parts. Jonny is ace at that sort of guitar sounds. It's very catchy. I know it's to grow on me a lot.
My only real not negative, is that they do seem to have made an album that is Really FULL.. No quiet, standing on the x-stage accoustic numbers this time.
But I DO like it and I also know what people mean about it being U2 esq. I think in part it is the guitar sounds.

When I heard this live, I didn't liked it. Was thinking Chris was taking to much risks with his voice. But hearing it recorded it is better. Chris need some workouts (and we some pics from it  ) |

The song is growing on me. I definitely like its style and also think that it makes a good opener!  I, by the way, immediately associated this song with an anime series I used to watch when I was a child: Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. If you wonder why: here you can listen to the theme song: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGLDm4UtxnU) - I think it's the baseline (in the beginning, for example) that is kinda similar to the one used for AHFOD. And I also see this connection in the lyrics of the song: "Oh I think I landed in a world I hadn't seen [...] Where there are miracles at work"; "And say it's true - it's not what it seems" etc. I don't know the story of Alice in Woderland too well, but I nevertheless think there might be a connection - what I really like! Especially as a kind of motto for this album full of, let's call them "simple" and maybe even kind of "trivial" song titles. You might expect "Amazing Day" as well as "Fun" simply to be upbeat songs, overly cheerful and positive without any deeper meaning - but in the end "it's not what it seems..."  |
