Such good friends those two, does Phil live in LA? His mum tweeted that shes on her way there, to spend Xmas with Phil maybe, does anyone know?

I have concluded a while ago that Phil lives in LA now. He's there a lot, even when other members aren't. And if his mom has tweeted that she's on her way to LA to spend Christmas with him, then that confirms it.
Yes, what a friendship! That takes serious commitment.

you know of all the friendships in the band, this friendship gets overlooked a lot. but i think it is one of the cornerstones of the band, just like the other relationships in the band. i mentioned somewhere that i thought phil lived there too. a wonderful, lasting friendship.

So true! Of all the boys, he's the one who borrowed money from his parents for that 1st gig and he wasn't even in the band and wasn't going to the same college. He just believed in them.
In one of their early documentaries, he says Chris always entered music competitions when they were at that Boys School and won lots of prizes for the their school. There was a tweet where his mom reminisced about Chris playing piano at the school picnic and she was front row. So they go way back and it's beautiful how they take care of each other.

I think it's a cornerstone too, and I also agree that Phil must be in L.A. too, at least part of the time. They do so far back, and Phil really stepped up for them back in the old days, and continues to do so today. Fame would normally be a great divider, but to have gone through everything they've gone through from childhood through the band stuff and still be as tight as they are is a testament not only to their friendship but to them as people. It seems they are keeping their wits about them and their feet on the ground as much as they can being in their position. I'm glad he's there!
