I've only watched the 3 or 4 first shows with the selections but now I'm sure I'm going to watch just for Chris!

I've never watched the show and I'm not too keen on Chris being on it. I just hope he's a really good advisor and that he doesn't receive too much hate from people.

^ he is going to get a backlash. i've already seen a couple of articles to that effect. what bothers me about this is that he seems to be buying into the whole celebrity thing when he signs up for something like this. hope he is not going to be all gushy about the show and keep some level of dignity.
but to me this looks like more of a promotional tool for the album. still it is not going to sit well with a lot of hardcore fans.

I'm torn. I'm not a fan of these types of shows, and I had an unsettled feeling when they played X-factor and American Idol, but to be honest, I also think Chris cares about music and just does what Chris wants to do. It's like the whole MX era - they threw caution to the wind and just did what they liked. He appears to be such a good guy in so many ways with doing so much for people that I would hate that his character took a hit just because he wanted to help singers behind the scenes on a tv show. It's not like he's one of the judges. And I expect articles of all kinds, just like with anything else he does or doesn't do. So, on one hand, he's worked hard enough in his life, built up enough of a fanbase and proven that he's a star (and a really good person) that he should be able to do what he wants without getting raked over the coals for something not worthy of it. On the other hand, it's not my favorite thing either. Fan or not of the show, it's Chris, and I will watch it.

Agree with everything. I hope he has thought about the possible negative views, and I'm sure he has, I think he probably reckons whatever he does, some people will moan, so why not just do what you want?

There are already articles spewing hate? Anyway, I don't see Chris doing this because he's a celebrity, I'm sure somebody in the Coldplay camp said, hey, the new record is coming out, wouldn't this appearance be cool? But knowing Chris (like we do!) he is doing it because he loves music and singing. We know his musical tastes run wide, maybe he thinks this is really a good thing for music and people who love to sing.

^he stated a lot of times that he thinks that tv shows like x factor, the voice, american idol aren't good because they don't care about passion, they only care about image and how perfect you hit the notes. That's what is bothering me, he throwed his moral views about music down in the toilet

Before, on a radio interview, I don't have time today, I'll try to find it tomorrow, he also said that he bothers him how they are quick to judge people and that would never win on of those because he's not that good, he also said that he wants to say to those people who don't make it that hitting notes perfectly is not the important thing, but passion is, and he uses himself as an example of a singer who's not that good but made it to the music business

Not Happy, disappointed because I really dont think he needs to do this, I will always stick by him and coldplay though but it just doesnt sit right with me, sorry. BTW lovely pic though  you can take the boy out of my approval but never out of my heart  |
