He rocks a colourful style during Coldplay's live gigs.  And Chris Martin showed off his retro fashion sense as he left the exclusive Hôtel Du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes earlier this week after performing at a private concert during Cannes Lions.

The 39-year-old singer channelled a Back To The Future vibe with his branded light blue T-shirt and even a pair of red and black trainers, which could have come straight from Marty McFly's wardrobe.

Chris is known for his love of adventurous footwear and has regularly been snapped in a variety of garish colourful trainers.  Conscious of the scorching weather on the French Riviera, the star donned a dark baseball cap to keep the sun off his face.

As he made his way down the steps from the hotel - where rooms cost upwards of €750 - to a waiting boat he chatted to an aide dressed in blue and clutched a bowl.  Chris then boarded the small craft and after shaking hands with the crew sped off - presumably to the nearby airport at Nice.

He travelled back to the UK as he is due to headline the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury with his band, Coldplay, on Sunday.  The group are regulars at the festival and were last at Worthy Farm in 2011, which was voted the best Glastonbury performance by BBC Radio listeners two years later.

Chris has recently completed the European leg of his tour - ending in the Spanish city of Barcelona.  Despite a crowd of thousands, the star only had eyes for his 12-year-daughter Apple, who was in the audience with ex wife Gwyneth.  Earlier in the night, during Chris' turn on stage, Gwyneth took to Instagram to share a sweet snap of the singer and his daughter during the live show. Showing the youngster watching her father from the sidelines, he could be seen blowing her a kiss while singing into the microphone.  She captioned the image with: 'Sometimes your dad really needs you to visit him at work'.  The image was liked more than 50,000 times by her 2.3million followers and received hundreds of comments.

Thanks for the philosophy article Sharon. That's actually a good philosophy for life. Im gonna give that a try! If it works for Chris, who says it can't work for us!

His energy hits you from across the room: the intense stare, the piercing blue eyes, the feet that are usually barefoot nowadays. I understand now why his T-shirts are constantly riding up his chest on stage – his muscles are so big, in the flesh, that his shoulders look like two Tonka trucks battling it out"
