Will Smith and Helen Mirren urge public to join sleep-out to end homelessness 22/10/2019 - 17:28:00Back to Celebs Showbiz HomeBy Press Association
Will Smith has urged the public to think about those who “don’t have a place to call home” in a video promoting a mass sleep-out to help end homelessness. The Hollywood star, 51, is joined by Helen Mirren, 74, and Coldplay singer Chris Martin, 42, in calling for people to support The World’s Big Sleep Out. The international event aims to see around 50,000 people spending the night outside in their respective cities on December 7 to raise awareness of the issue. In the minute-long video, Smith says: “Think for a minute about what home means to you. For me home means conversation. “It’s the place where my family comes together and that’s the most beautiful part of home. “But there are over 100 million people in the world that don’t have a place to call home.” Mirren says: “On December 7 2019 we are hoping for 50,000 people to sleep out in the world’s largest display of solidarity and support for homeless and displaced people. “Major sleep-out events will be happening in Trafalgar Square, in Times Square and in 50 cities across the world.” Martin adds: “Thank you for choosing to sleep out this one night and helping out so many people who don’t have a choice.” Cities taking part in The World’s Big Sleep Out include London, New York, Edinburgh, Chicago, New Delhi, Newcastle, Dublin, Belfast, Madrid, Barcelona, Brussels, Cardiff and Santiago. Smith will read a bedtime story in New York’s Times Square while Mirren will do the same in Trafalgar Square, London. It is hoped the initiative will raise more than £38.7 million (50 million dollars) which will be distributed to a range of homelessness and refugee focused charities around the world. Organisers Social Bite started as a sandwich shop in Edinburgh in August 2012 and have since opened multiple branches. A quarter of its staff are homeless and the charity has received visits from Hollywood stars Leonardo DiCaprio and George Clooney. linkhttps://www.instagram.com/p/B36if3tgyPq

I admire their cause, however in my county we have a big issue with homelessness and it's isn't a black and white subject.

December 7th will be cold also here in New York. Not to mention I wouldn't feel safe in Times Square at night. Maybe I am selfish but I would only do it to see Coldplay or get tickets!

Chris Martin smiles as he arrives in New York on Thanksgiving bundled up in a beanie and scarf... after release of Coldplay's new albumBy RACHEL MCGRATH FOR DAILYMAIL.COM PUBLISHED: 22:02 EST, 28 November 2019 | UPDATED: 00:27 EST, 29 November 2019
He celebrated the release of Coldplay's new album Everyday Life with a concert in Amman, Jordan, on Saturday night. And on Thursday, Chris Martin was seen with a big smile on his face as he arrived at JFK Airport in New York. The British musician, 42, touched down in the Big Apple in time to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday. Martin was dressed down for his journey, pairing black sweatpants with a navy sweatshirt that had a native American wearing a feather headdress on the front. He wore a black knit hat pulled down over his hair and a long black scarf wrapped several times around his neck. He added a rain jacket and Nike trainers and carried a backpack. Coldplay's collection of new songs takes on social and political themes including war, racism and faith. Although he and his bandmates traveled to Jordan to perform their new songs live for the first time, they are not going out on tour straightaway to promote the album. That, Martin told the BBC, is because they want to make sure that going on the road will have a 'positive impact' on the environment. 'We're taking time over the next year or two, to work out how our tour can not only be sustainable [but] how can it be actively beneficial. All of us have to work out the best way of doing our job,' he explained. Martin shares two children - Apple, 15, and Moses, 13 - with his ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow. He is currently believed to be in a relationship with Fifty Shades star Dakota Johnson. link

Coldplay’s Chris Martin spotted all my himself on a Winter Wonderland carousel Lucy Skoulding Monday 16 Dec 2019 5:18 pm
It looks like Coldplay frontman Chris Martin is failing at getting into the Christmas spirit as he was spotted on a carousel all by himself. The Fix You singer paid a visit to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, London, but then went on a carousel alone. He was pictured sitting on one of the carousel horses with no-one around him and a very serious expression on his face. We have no idea why he decided to do this. It’s not like his children, Apple and Moses, were anywhere to be seen. And besides, being 15 and 13, they’re probably too old for a carousel anyway. There was no sign of his current girlfriend, Fifty Shades of Gray actress Dakota Johnson, either. We just think Chris was desperate to go on a carousel and couldn’t find anyone to go with him. Perhaps the Yellow singer just needed to let loose, having just released a new Coldplay album. The band, who have been together since 1996, launched Everyday Life as their eighth studio album on 22 November this year. Chris even admitted he paid his children to appear on the album. Apple and Moses have featured on a track on the album, Chris explaining that he paid them in the same way he’d pay anyone who helped him with an album. ‘I asked them. And I pay them, proper fees like everyone. And they are allowed to say no,’ he explained. Plus they’re currently working out ways to make their next tour carbon neutral. Maybe Chris was simply relaxing and letting off some steam on that carousel. link

This I do not get, maybe someday it will be one of his anecdotes.
By the way, Chris making up songs for listeners is up on YouTube, and they are hysterical. He's so charming.
