PUBLISHED: 19:34 EST, 30 January 2021 | UPDATED: 06:56 EST, 31 January 2021Gary Barlow has joked he'd love to launch an A-List supergroup and has his sights set on the likes of the Spice Girls, Chris Martin and Little Mix as some of his potential members.
The Take That star, 50, quipped that he hopes to repeat the success of 80s supergroup Traveling Wilburys, which consisted of Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty.
Speaking to Chris Evans for his How to Wow podcast, Gary said: 'You write for two weeks in a studio in Nashville, take it on the road for six months… it'd be brilliant. I'd love that.'
Gary suggested that he could call the band Group Therapy, and later revealed that his dream line-up includes Andy Burrows and some of the members of the girl groups Spice Girls, Sugababes and Little Mix.
He explained: 'So Andy Burrows on drums, the keyboard player from Snow Patrol [Johnny McDaid] who has written some of Ed Sheeran's biggest tracks.
'Then we'd have a mixture - some of the Sugababes with some of Little Mix with maybe even a Spice Girl - as our beautiful backing vocals, which would be awesome.'
Gary also suggested 'Chris Martin up front', as well as 'Jeff Lynne on guitar', and also reckons The Killers' lead singer Brandon Flowers could be a good addition.
He also added that he thinks the band could take part in 'an amazing documentary' if they all flew out to Nashville to record together.
It comes after the singer recently revealed that he believes Take That will reunite as the original five-piece, as he called the band his 'safe haven'.
The group has been operating with Gary, Mark Owen, 48, and Howard Donald, 50, after Jason Orange, 50, left in 2014 to focus on his personal life.
Founding member Robbie Williams, 46, originally left the boyband in 1995 and re-joined in 2010, but left again following the release of their sixth studio album Progress to focus on his highly successful solo career.
However, he joined his former bandmates for a lockdown performance of the band's greatest hits last year.
When asked if a reunion with all five members is on the horizon, Gary said: 'I think there will [be], I think there will [be].
'That's one of the thrills of being in the band. You don't know what's going to happen from record to record and it's lovely. It's a very safe place Take That.
'It's a lovely environment. It feels like a safe haven. It's a place to go back to when you've done a bit of playing around and it's time to go home.'
Take That originally formed in 1990 and went on to achieve 12 number one singles on the UK Singles Chart, as well as eight number one albums. They are currently the most successful boyband in UK chart history.
After Robbie left in 1995, the remaining members announced their split a year later in 1996.
However, they reunited in 2005 minus Robbie, and achieved great success with their reunion tour and comeback album, Beautiful World.
Robbie returned once again in 2010 for their album Progress, before leaving again for the second time. Jason also decided to leave in 2014 because he did not wish to continue touring.
