That was quite shocking to watch. People shove things in his face to get them signed, shouting and following him.
I wonder why celebrities don't avoid situations like these, then again it was 2 minutes of his day and probably easier to just walk through it.

Chris himself said that sometimes he turns to be a diva, a bit. I think he is both. In fact, nobody can always be kind and when there are stressful situations, everyone is a bit tensed. If people meet Chris when there are a lot of things going on and he is in a rush, they might not experience his charming side and might think he is arrogant. And then, Mr. Martin is a very proud and thoughtful person.  Such persons are often "identified" as being arrogant because they seem to take themselves very seriously. One German newspaper stated that he finds himself so important that he dedicated a whole Coldplay album to his seperation from Gwyneth. The succes with the band adds something to it as well They are too successful not to be arrogant, if you catch my drift. Or to say it in Chris' words: Believe everything, the media reveals about the band and the members. There is no way, tabloids are making things up and they will only report things that are true. well first of all i don't think the people who rag on him have actually ever met him or paid any attention to him other than to bash on him. i doubt any of these hardcore haters have even seen an interview/concert. these are just internet couch warriors that jump on the band wagon based on some preconceptions mostly created by the media, sometimes aided by the man himself of course. another aspect of this is that he is the 'face' of coldplay and therefore, the perception of coldplay is projected on to chris. that being said, i don't doubt that he is not always this gracious. who can be?? after all we are all human. but on his personal criticisms, what i've seen is a man a little too hard on himself. but after all, none of us personally know the guy, so all we have to go with are stories of first hand personal stories and what we see/hear from chris himself. all of this suggest that he is a very grounded, funny, kind guy. |

Good points from both of you. I agree and I still find it so hard to understand the hate. If you don't like it, don't bother. It's a band/a singer, not a dictator. People must be frustrated. edit: I have no problem with different opinions, debates or discussions. Just the hate puzzles me  |

The hate is brought on, I agree, by people that have no inkling of what they are talking about. And wow. How annoying to be asked a million times if he was offended by The 40-Year-Old Virgin. Did they teleport back to 9 years ago?

I agree too. There was someone at my office, upon finding out I like (Love) CP, said something like 'Oh I can't stand Chris Martin, he is so arrogant!' I quizzed him on exactly why he felt like this, had Chris personally insulted him? Had he met him? No. He was repeating what he had read somewhere. It's crazy.
