This was my first Coldplay concert! I made the unfortunate decision to not get tickets for the concert in my home city of Denver (university is getting in the way), so I thought I wouldn't get to see them anytime soon... until I was given tickets to Glastonbury when I graduated from high school in May. It came as a complete surprise and led to one of the best memories of my 18-year life. Despite the "mudness" and the Everglow mishap, it was amazing and the energy was unbelievable!!! The Fix You proposal was heartwarming, as was the Viola Beach tribute. My dad came with me to the festival and since he was a huge Bee Gees fan when he was young, he absolutely loved Barry Gibb's appearance. There was so much joy and it was nice to forget about all the darkness in the world for an hour and a half. Best concert I've ever been too, and though my dad isn't a big Coldplay fan, he has a new respect for them. One more thing: I always thought Xylobands were awesome, but you will never truly know how awesome they are until you have stood in a crowd of tens of thousands of people with everybody's wrist glowing in the dark. Just the thought of it still gives me goosebumps.

It was actually my first trip outside of the United States. My dad and I arrived and tried to make ourselves at home, but it was my first major festival so the whole thing was a brand new experience for me. I met a bunch of passionate music fans from around the globe to shoot the breeze with lol. I had never paid much attention to some of the artists who showed up but it's safe to say several of them have definitely earned a new fan! I have been a Muse fan for a few years but they took the show to another level after my last Muse concert... The 1975 were a big highlight... The Lumineers are a hometown favorite here in Denver so that was special... all in all, I only disliked a few of the sets. Oh, and this has been said countless times by the media, but the mud was ridiculous. Especially when thousands of people were making a mess out of it. As for Coldplay's set, I was a little further back and the crowd was massive enough that I can't find myself in the broadcast, but I still had a decent enough view. The opener A Head Full of Dreams turned the show into a party right away. Yellow drew plenty of singing along and Chris said something like “We came here scared about the state of the world, but you’ve made us realize people can do wonderful things." What a powerful moment. The Scientist made me cry haha. When they started playing Everglow, I could definitely tell something had gone wrong... the look on Will's face was priceless. But the impromptu solo version was gorgeous and I honestly think it sounded even better; there was so much raw emotion. Charlie Brown was amazing but the Xylobands made it even better. As I said previously, you can never truly know their awesomeness until you've stood in the midst of them. Simply beautiful! I was initially not a huge fan of the "Midnight version" of Fix You but I've warmed up to it after witnessing it in person. The proposal was such a heartwarming moment. I remembered hearing about the Viola Beach tragedy earlier this year so the tribute was an amazing moment. My dad loved the Barry Gibb appearance and Chris' "referendum" joke to get an extra Bee Gees song was awesome. Up&Up warranted many an "Awwwwwwww" from the crowd when Chris brought his family up onstage. And just when we all thought it was over, Michael Eavis came up on stage to a huge round of applause. For a man in his 80s, he can sure sing... My Way was in true Sinatra fashion! The band played the end of Up&Up and brought the night to a close. I will cherish this memory till the day I die... "nothing else compares" to the energy of a Coldplay concert, and I feel truly blessed to have seen such a historic moment of the band's career. I only got a few photos and most were bad quality but these are my favorites from Coldplay's set:

Amazing! What an experience! This is still an ambition of mine to visit Glasto, but to be there when Coldplay headline would be a dream.

Their Glasto performances blow all of the competition away! I loved this Glasto performance, and like Cathy said, well deserved. Glasto 2011 is still one of my, if not my favorite, performance!
