This may have been mentioned. This week i'm thinking that Ghost Stories is very much Chris Martins record. It seems much more personal than previous ones (mainly because it sounds entirely about the break up of his relationship), from the Zane interview, he mentioned how ASFOS was done with Avicii whilst the rest of the band weren't really around, and he's got his daughter (and son almost) singing on it. Also, with the rumours there may not be a big tour (again he mentioned he found singing/listening some of the songs very diffcult), and another album coming next year i feel he just needs to get it all out on the album before 'going back to normal'. This is just a feeling i get from what i've heard so far, i may be compeltely wrong, and this is in no way a negative comment, all the songs i've heard so far are really good and i'm certain the album will be fantastic. Don't shout at me

We don't shout. Don't worry. It's good to have a debate though. So.... We have no real way of knowing that there IS another album in the pipeline, but it does appear to be that Ghost Stories is a smaller release, smaller tour etc etc. But I am not entirely convinced it's just a Chris record. Guy partially wrote the song Magic and he has helped and produced most of it. Chris mentioned in the interview with Zane Lowe, that the band are really tight at the moment. Maybe it is the case that Ghost Stories is about his breakup, but Chris writes all the songs (mostly) so it would be about him wouldn't it? I do hope there IS another album release next year, that would be awesome! Followed by a bigger, longer world tour. Because so many people are going to miss seeing them this time around.

WHAT THE HELL DO YOU MEAN???!!! HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT??!! Feel free to say what you feel, Eben. I see what you mean, and I tend to agree that this album seems to have been very therapeutic geared toward Chris but I also agree that Chris did say that the other members have really stepped up and made their mark on it as well. I love that the band seem very close at the moment and are working well together. It can only mean good things for ALL of us! Woo!

I read the complaints on Youtube (yes, I am still reading comments on Youtube for some reason), that the rest of the band is not on this record enough, blah, blah, blah. I do agree with Eben, I think this is Chris' record, I think the band let him take the lead and write about his marriage, and then the next record will be ALL of Coldplay. It seems like GS is Chris' pet project WITH the band, when a lot of other singers would have pet projects without their bands.

They've done a complete 180 from Mylo Xyloto, that's for sure - and not just in terms of mood and direction - let's do a small rundown 1) A name you can pronounce - check 2) No overkill on publicity, no leaks, no songs all over festivals months before release - check 3) No Rihanna - check (god i hope not) 4) Personal heartfelt lyrics - check
Although, i do miss the xylobands and the bursts of color.

I think they have made up for the colour with the AMAZING star sets in the live shows. Although I wish more of us could get to see that.

Whose to say that the other members didn't play as big of a part on this record? Sure the lyrics are very much personal to Chris, but from what I've heard so far, the production of these songs is superb. Which says to me that the other three played a prominent role on Ghost Stories, because in my opinion Guy, Jonny, and Will are very smart and talented producers in their own right.
And just because a particular member of the band doesn't physically play that much in a song, doesn't mean that they had a limited part in the production of that song.
Yes it's very much Chris's message, but I'm sure the other three were integral to the process. Hell, Magic wouldn't even exist if it weren't for Guy, and it's the lead single!

I agree as well. I think we all know by now that the feelings and mood are flowing out of Chris in light of this personal issue he's dealing with, but isn't it always really? Sure, it's more so this time, but he always comes up with the start of the songs, and the other three then add their input, voices and invaluable parts. I don't think this was any different. I'm not saying that they might have eased back and let him have more a say in how a song should be heard this time around since it's so personal, but I would never once think that they had any less to do with the production than they normally do. Chris has already said that they all were 100% invested in the album, on the same page and offering starts and being involved in the mixing/production.

Guys, I think Ghost Stories will leak within the next 7 days. It's open to the public on May 16th for Australia, correct?
It's gotta be leaking soon, don't you think?

Seems likely then. I wonder why they do that. I guess it's the record company. But it seems to me that they are asking to have it leak.
