Happy Fourth of July. Be patriotic, don't try to take rights away from others, be kind to our nation and its inhabitants. That's all I've got!

It did rain, but it didn't turn into a complete washout, so far. Hopefully there will be a break in the clouds and drizzle for some fireworks. Regardless, HAPPY 4TH EVERYONE! And ditto to everyone!

Strangely enough, in the city next to us, some guy tried homemade fireworks and almost blew his leg off. Seriously. Some people don't deserve all of their limbs, do they? But hey, we got to do our 'whatever is legal' fireworks and beat the next round of rain by about 15 minutes, so cool beans!

Poor Rudy was petrified, I walked all over the house several times afterward (we live right next to where a large fireworks show is held each year). Finally found him, and he was Mr. Cuddles this morning right next to me in bed.

They just made fireworks legal in my county.Hate them as much as I hate guns. The professional ones are pretty and should be left for the professionals!I feel so bad for the animals ! Very scary for them. And can you imagine war veterans with PTSD? To top it off a ten year old boy in Amsterdam NY, by playing with fireworks set fire to and destroyed TWO houses! Yeah but lets legalize them!

Fireworks are legal over here. But more and more people want to forbid it. Only at new years eve everyone can get fireworks. Now people want to make a few national places for new yeas eve. There are to much accidents with it. I am fine with national places. I never bought fireworks and never will...

My dog doesn't seem to be bothered by fireworks or even my son practicing bagpipes over his head, which is really loud for those that aren't normally around bagpipes, but thunder will send him scurrying. Or worse yet, that little beep every minute or so that let's you know to change the battery in the smoke detectors? That freaks him out more than anything!
Only licensed professionals can set off the big fireworks in my state, but we are allowed to have fountains and smaller things. Too many stupid people doing too many stupid things. We've been tempted to get some bigger ones when we've visited beaches in states to our south where they are legal, but for the same reason I never bought a trampoline, something's bound to happen the second that I get them! Plus, it's probably not a good idea to get arrested in front of the family if I'm caught. I'm the parent, so I guess I'd better be responsible. Drat. haha!

I love fireworks, the street kinds as well as the huge ones in the sky, but they can be pretty dangerous sometimes. A few years ago someone lit up a firework and, after nothing happened, went to check on it, but the thing shot in his face :/ Yesterday a neighbor of someone I know had their house catch on fire.

As long as people don't start fires or injury to the point of death, I really don't care lol!

They are legal here. We use them to celebrate Umm the fact that someone tried to blow up the houses of parliament several hundred years ago. Or is it celebrate that they failed? I have no clue. But we have them every November 5th. And now New years too. They are dangerous, yes, but we have always grown up with 'The Fireworks Code' where you keep all your fireworks in a tin box and never return to a spent firework. or one that goes out.. that sort of thing. Plus its winter when we do it, so nothing much will burn as we have normally had two months of torrential rain beforehand. But of course accidents DO happen, and there are more and more professional displays happening these days. But I do remember fondly the magic of watching your dad in the rain probably, with a box of matches, setting light to a little rocket, set in a milk bottle, and watch it soar to the heavens and go.. pop. LOL.. Or the Catherine Wheel nailed to the fence that failed to go around, and the little silver fountains and little pops and bangs.. and of course sparklers... wearing your mittens, drawing your name before they went out and bent to strange angles. But it was magical. It was dark and exciting, usually cold or wet, and you could come in rosy cheeked and eat baked potatoes and get sent to bed happy.
The next day and several days after the garden and everyone elses gardens smelled of cordite.. Lovely LOL!
