Oh, I keep remembering things, haha! When we got to the hotel, the hub went in to get the keys, etc. while we gathered stuff from the car. He told us as we rode up in the elevator that the girl at the front counter asked if we were there for the concert. She said she worked for Aluna George and that she had so many things to get done before that night. I was like, "What? Hit the bottom floor again! We need to get back down there and see if she has any pull!" LOL! We didn't go back down then, but when we headed down later, the hub saw her printing some things, and he said it looked like a set list. I don't know how she works for her, but that's what she said. I was ready to pour on the charm, limp, do whatever it took to get some sympathy from her to get us backstage, haha! (Just let me dream.) The confetti in the car, in the bathroom, down the hallways of the hotel, in the lobby, outside, was hilarious. There were evidently many of us that attended heaven in concert that night. Haha! I loved Aluna George! I thought she was great, as was Izzy Bidu. I wasn't expecting to like either one, but thought they were fabulous. Coldplay's stage crew stayed at our hotel. My husband sees a guy in the elevator with a AHFOD logo on his bag and says "are you here for the show?" The guy looked at him and replied in his British accent, "yes, we're with the band." He went on to explain that they were part of the stage crew. LOL. I was so embarrassed. There were 7 or 8 of them in the bar that night, but I was too bashful to say anything. I saw a couple of them on the stage between the Aluna George and Coldplay and I thought, "why can't I be more outgoing!?"

It is wonderful to hear all these stories! I love love hearing about other people's gigs. It reminds me of mine.
Yes confetti everywhere! LOL our hotel was covered in it as well! LOL.. my room.. I had confetti everywhere. I kept telling Emma she had it all in her hair.. and when I got back to my room I looked exactly the same LOL! Not just my bra Cathy LOL!
Valkirie I am SO SO glad the concert lived up to your expectations! It's always slightly scary to begin with. But now you aren't a Coldplay virgin, you will want to do it again and again LOL! it is totally addictive and WOW road crew at your hotel! Crazy LOL!

Yay!! I'm so glad you had a great time, and I was really hoping you'd come back and tell us what you thought. I don't think any of us had any doubt that your expectations would be met and then far exceeded, but it's great to hear it from you. Now, we hope you will hang with us on the forum. We are from all walks of life - experiences, ages, genders and everything in between, but we all love CP, and it's a bond that creates great friendships, so stick around! It's hard to approach anyone that might be "with the band", but I've done it a few times anyway, haha! I might not have that night, who knows, but I have met Matt (Jonny's guitar tech) a few times, and he actually remembered me the last time. I'm not sure if that's good or not.... P.S. I have green eyes too. (Well, they're hazel, but that's close enough for me to think Green Eyes is for me...) They didn't play GPAS , but they did play Don't Panic, so score!

I love reading concerts memories!!! I'm so glad you enjoyed the show valkyrie! Nothing like the first Coldplay show. And Sharon, your stories are hilarious!!! And I'm so thankful that this board exists and Coldplayers are truly the best! (sorry guys, I'm a bit sappy today) My friend had the time of her life, and I'm so glad we got to go. She told me that Coldplay may not be her favorite band, but she'll follow them anywhere with me! We had standing room at the very top back of the stadium, but the view was breathtaking. When they first came on stage I nearly started crying, I was so moved. They are so wonderful, and I'm so incredibly honored to be a fan. I freaked out when they played Trouble and when Chris played Green Eyes. The lady next to me thought I'd lost my mind. Oh, what you do for love One day, I will save up enough money to go all out on tickets, but either way, it was an amazing night!

Yay!! I'm so glad that you loved it, and you've done a great job trying to convert your friend, ha! I've converted a couple, and it's such a kick to see the light go on for people! Please stick around and enjoy this obsession with us here. It's a great place to be.

I'm still feeling a bit of transportation envy from valkyrie's bus.

I'm still feeling a bit of transportation envy from valkyrie's bus. We had intended to walk, but once we got there we realized that wasn't going to be safe. We would have had to walk alongside roads with no sidewalks and busy traffic. I was so glad the bus worked out so smoothly! It spoiled me for next time, I have no doubt!
On top of that, as I stepped on the bus, a very excited lady welcomed us with, "hello Coldplay fans!" Her enthusiasm and energy lit up the bus. When we took our seats on the bus, we started talking to the couple beside us. When we got to our seats at the stadium, we had great conversations with the people around us. One thing that stands out about the whole experience is the positive interactions with Coldplay fans! I've never experienced this with other bands/concerts. You all are wonderful and welcoming, too. Now that I'm interacting with other mega Coldplay fans, I feel like I've missed out on a whole side of Coldplay that I didn't know existed. Better late than never, though!

Better late than never for sure! Us fans are a unique and wonderful breed, just like the band we worship, and it's just an immensely proud thing.

That is so true. Chris himself says so. But seriously you can have a long chat with someone you have never met before at a Coldplay gig. We are all there for the same reasons and it's amazing. I have made so many friends at Coldplay gigs, and in the lines outside. It's really awesome, we are an incredible fan base.
