Any of you Coldplayers fans of electronic music? Seeing as the latest song from Coldplay, Midnight, features electronic influence I thought this thread would be appropriate. What are some of your favorite artists/songs in this genre? For me, I really love Jon Hopkins' work and I also really like Tycho (Scott Hansen). I love the ambient qualities that electronic music is full of and how the music easily and fully envelopes you in another place (if the music is good anyway). Plus with electronic its all about the sounds, melodies, harmonies; there's rarely any lyrics so the music can be universally appreciated.
If you've never listened to anything by Tycho or Jon Hopkins (although I'm sure we've all heard some stuff from Hopkins if we're familiar with 'life in technicolor/the escapist') you should check them out. Jon just released his fourth studio album last year, immunity, which I really enjoyed. It's full of dance and energizing beats but retains a very organic feel throughout the album. Tycho is releasing his fourth album as well next month. Here are just some of my favorite tracks from these two artists:
Jon Hopkins:
Cerulean (from his first album in 2001, Opalescent)
Light Through The Veins (was sampled for Viva's "LiT/Escapist")
Autumn Hill (I like how its mostly all piano and raw/organic sounds)
Breathe This Air (this version features vocals from Purity Ring)
Sun Harmonics (really happy song and similar structure to Light Through the Veins)
Tycho:
Dream As A Memory (one of his earliest tracks)
Dictaphone's Lament (fun track)
A Walk (nice texture, feels like i'm floating down a river or something)
Montana (this one really grew on me, it's from his upcoming album)
