Another Ghost Stories song that adds diversity to the band'a sound. These new songs really add in a fresh mix of variety to their catalogue. I love you this one, maybe my favorite so far! J's guitar reminds me a lot of some U2 stuff too.

Another Ghost Stories song that adds diversity to the band'a sound. These new songs really add in a fresh mix of variety to their catalogue. I love you this one, maybe my favorite so far! J's guitar reminds me a lot of some U2 stuff too. I was getting a real Edge vibe as well especially from the solo onwards. When Chris Martin comes back in with his vocals he has already become unstoppable adding that extra oomph to Chris's vocal melody. The Edge does something very similar on songs like The Fly when the solo comes in and by time the vical refrain of 'Love we shine like a burning star that's falling from the sky' he just continues his epic solo. Obviously The Fly isn't a great example because it's a much harder guitar sound and The Edge is on it from the very beginning of the song (and the solo is more complex) but the impact it has is very similar on the song. It's what the best guitarists do. They support the song rather than stand out from it. That's why the likes of Edge and Johnny Marr are my favourite guitarists in pop music - they have that ability to conjure up separate melodies that still go hand in hand with the beautiful vocal melodies. Guitar wankery is not the rule for guys like these and that's very much the case with JB, who I love very much! On this occasion I think Jonny's guitar sound is much more reminiscent of Edge's sound throughout The Unforgettable Fire which is perfect for me because it's U2's most atmospheric and beautiful album in my opinion. The comparisons between U2 and Coldplay are over egged to say the least but I think on this occasion it's justified. edit: THIS should be on the Another's Arms thread! Epic fail.

Interview preview with Chris that has pieces of the studio version. The guitar intro sounds even better imo
