I can see that, and yes, they have a majorly diverse fanbase! The good news is they still don't take part in commercials or sell their music as product endorsements, and most of the band stay out of the limelight completely. I think Chris is expected (or if not, he should be) to be in the limelight and hoopla a little more because he made that choice to marry Hollywood a long time ago. This truly is not an optimum thing for me either, these shows....but he's talking to some wannabe singers and maybe giving them good advice. And hopefully this will be it!! It's going to happen so I feel I have to see the positives. I think most fans are coming from the same place really. It's all out of caring for this band, so that's a positive as well! I do see what you're saying. And the other good news is that people who really don't like it don't have to watch it. That sounds sarcastic, but I promise it wasn't said or meant that way! It just it what it is. Just, cross your fingers!! (And again, thankful people can discuss this and give opinions without setting each other on fire.)

Agreed ladies, it would take a hell of a lot more than this to make me turn my back on chris and coldplay..perish the thought!! I think it is more about 'caring' for him and the band and not wanting to give the haters any ammunition. He's a big boy now and Im sure he will do a good job and if he can give sound advice to these people in a very hard profession, lots of knockbacks and heartbreak then good for him My my he's looking sooo damn good in those pics i could forgive him anything

I was just thinking the other day that it's true, they still don't sell their music to commercials, but they are a band in today's world (where CDs will soon be a thing of the past I'm sure) and they DO need to promote. They can't just sit back and say, "oh, we're too good to get out there and promote." Everything a band like them does is PR, we ALL have to do it to some extent. Coldplay is no different. We can attack them for selling out or going a route that's not entirely about artistry, but without the promotion and the sales we would have no Coldplay. We just wouldn't.

I've got a little difficulties with all the negative attention all this is getting. I get the opinion about things Chris said before and now being on the show. But is it really that big of a deal? He isn't a judge. If he was, I can understand all the comments. He is a adviser, for three episodes. I am really hoping he will coach the candidates with his experiences. How do you become from a shy, young, not extraordinairy man to a succesfull sing a songwriter? I think that will be the message he will be sending...

I agree with you, Prissieb. I think he does it because he loves music and singing. I think the quote from the radio show he did with Simon Pegg says so much--he has a love of singing, but wouldn't necessarily be judged fairly on a show like this. I think he honestly wants to give young singers a chance, thus the advisor role. And yes, it's only for three episodes! People need to chill out.

Totally agree with both of you. It's just a TV show.

I told my sister about it, and she watches The Voice religiously. I've only watched bits and parts. But she said to be careful not to compare it to American Idol or X-Factor where Simon Cowell and people like him can be very mean spirited on purpose, cutting down not only music ability but also physical appearance. Yes, it's a singing show...but maybe Chris feels this particular show is more constructive. Or maybe they do have some sort of promotion worked out with NBC as gai suggested. Who knows. All I know is that I personally don't believe this is that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things. To each their own opinion.

'Voice' brings Chris Martin aboard via Snapchat reveal
The Coldplay frontman will advise all remaining 'Voice' singers as Battles: Round Two starts.
The Voice is bringing in more star power to help its singing hopefuls.
Chris Martin, the frontman for Coldplay, will be an adviser to all four of the coaches' teams as NBC's hit singing competition (Monday and Tuesday, 8 p.m. ET/PT) enters a second phase of the Battles Round starting March 31. Martin will appear on that show and again on April 1 and 7.
"He's such an authentic voice in the industry. We could not be happier," executive producer Mark Burnett says. "There's a massive level of respect from the singers and the surprise from them (when they met him) : 'Whoa! Chris Martin. Wow!' "
The Voice relied on social media, not the TV show itself, to announce Martin's involvement, revealing footage of the singer via the popular Snapchat app after the East Coast broadcast of Tuesday's show ended. Fans were alerted in advance to an upcoming announcement via Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
"Snapchat is very important and very new. ... This is the perfect way for The Voice to be making an announcement in a very unique way via the place where young Americans are," Burnett says. Based on a combined two-night rating, the current, sixth cycle of The Voice ranks in the top five among young adults and is attracting more young adults and viewers than Fox's American Idol.
Battles: Round Two, in which singers perform the same song, will replace the Knockouts Round, where singers had different songs."We like the pressure when they're sharing one song," he says.
In the first Battles Round, which began this week, each coach has a top talent helping advise contestants on his or her team. The coach-adviser pairings this season are: Adam Levine and Aloe Blacc; Blake Shelton and The Band Perry; Shakira and Miranda Lambert, who happens to be Shelton's wife; and Usher and Jill Scott.
With Martin, who has already recorded his musical sessions with the singers, the stronger performers who survived the first Battles Round received expertise from the same artist.
"It was very objective across the board, so nobody felt they were getting an advantage," Burnett says.
Each coach will get one contestant steal in Battles: Round Two.
Social media has become a growing tool for reality competition shows as they seek to engage their viewers, especially younger ones. The Voice posts Twitter messages on screen; instituted a Twitter "instant save" last year, which it will continue this season; and is incorporating additional features using Snapchat, which lets users share photos, video and text. Idol recently added Google voting and Facebook voting trends to its social-media arsenal.
The Voice playoffs, which will be taped rather than broadcast live this year, will further narrow the field, with 12 finalists — three on each coach's team — competing in the live shows starting April 21. The finale will take place May 20.

I hope the episodes can be posted online after, since I really don't watch the Voice or have time to.

He so good. I really can't wait. It really shows that he thinks about his stage performances. I am sure we all knew that he would, but it always seems so natural. But you can bet every song is discussed and rehearsed so it's perfect. It will be fascinating to see that process. Please, anyone if you find more of these VI's do post them for us. : : Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
