^Agreed. And if they're using a DJ, please pick someone who creates a sound that's not predictable like David Guetta or Swedish House Mafia. Going the 'easy pop route' is the worst choice they could make in my opinion. Like you said, I'd rather have them make something I don't like but does show they can make their own choices, instead of trying to please as many people as possible.

I think it's very likely that the next release will be a commercial pop album again but we'll see We shouldn't worry before it's even out LOL.

^ hahaa true. but now that we have GS and with no upcoming tour, that's basically all we can do.
and considering the lack of a tour this time around, whatever musical direction they may take next time around, i guess it is safe to say that it will be anthemic.

Hopefully they won't go even more commercial on LP7, although it seems like it's going to happen. I need some meaningful music with real instruments, exactly like the song Ghost Story.

It's too bad if they feel they have to have "big" songs for a tour. MX was big and splashy, did they record the album in order to do that tour? (rhetorical question) I hope they just go with what they want to do, and worry about how to present it later on. Guitars and drums and piano were good enough for 2003, why not now?

yeah, love the song. they can turn that sound up a little bit more and make a rockier album. but the thing is, it is very reminiscent of their previous work. so the chances are they won't go completely in that direction. but some similarities would be nice.

Guitars and drums and piano were good enough for 2003, why not now? the thing is, they weren't a stadium band back then and most of a rush of blood are not the most stadium fitting songs. after the mx tour, with not touring gs, you can hardly ignore the fact that there is some need to keep the same level of touring as in mx. i'm not saying coldplay would just make a stadium ready album, just that touring aspect would influence the soundscape. remember chris once said that he imagines a song being played to the glasto crowd when they write them. but in the end i guess they would do what they want to do.

I'm feeling a stadium suitable album will happen as well I'm afraid.
But, they still could do an experimental album and rely on their older hits for the tour. In theory.

I hope they learn to combine the best things from everything. What about a great rock album that includes thoughtful and meaningful songs as well as some great stadium rock hymns? I wish Chris would write some lyrics for the next album that can compete with Viva La Vida. We know that he can do it. Let's not forget about the production either. Less computer sounds, more acoustic please. No "ohohohoohos" at places where actual lyrics could / should have been. As much bass as in Ghost Stories and real drums and other instruments. Oh and could we please ban the vocoder? Thanks a lot! haha

GS lyrics have been bothering me a lot. if we do get something on par with viva era, i'll be happy. looking at some of his earlier lyrics and GS lyrics, you could be fooled into thinking it's not the same writer. that is not to say all his earlier lyrics were amazing. hardly. just that GS lyrics are not up to the standard for most songs. the best lyrical song, they leave off the album.

I think GS is less about lyrics and more about the feeling to be honest. Of course, I can't get inside of his head and know what he's thinking, but I personally just feel that maybe it was a way to get some of this off of his chest rather than try to make it lyrically deep. I have no idea, of course, but maybe ? I will say that, from what I can understand because there is a line or two that I'm not sure about, I'm mesmerized by the lyrics to 'Ghost Story.' That song....gives me chills.

I agree, sometimes the lyrics don't have to have deep meaning, just as long as they come out. I think the whole "point" of the album is the mood, the music, the way it makes the listener feel.

yeah, i agree with to a degree and understand what you are saying. i get the feeling GS was a personal album, not purposed for the listeners. it was mentioned in interviews that GS was exactly designed to be like this. it's about a personal struggle. so i can accept it. just that for lp7, it should be better.
and ghost story! best lyrics since viva. when are they going to release the official lyrics? we should ask the oracle.
