But darkhorse, aren't most of these people "radicalized", meaning they've been convinced to join this thing as a conscious adult?
BTW guys how do I do the tag? Trying to tag darkhorse in my post but can't see how to do it.

Do you mean tagging as in like this? joiedevivreYou just place @ next to the username. How likely is it that someone becomes a radical if they've never been taught Sharia law and Quran from the beginning? Their ideologies only sound crazy to you and me because we weren't brought up and taught it by family and society. There is no doubt that Muslims are more susceptible to becoming radicalized jihadists or terrorists. The "religion of peace" is basically a breeding ground for terrorism.

Ok thanks darkhorse I think people can become radical even if they haven't been taught those things from the beginning, because the terrorists are getting people from the US and other countries, people that have not been taught those things from the beginning, to decide to join them, right? I'm asking questions because I'm trying desperately to understand why this is happening, how people can decide to do such terrible things. I'm trying desperately to understand. Is it brainwashing, cult or mob mentality, what is it? I'm so hurt emotionally by all of this madness and i'm trying to understand it somehow. :(

It's true; unfortunately many do end up joining them at a later age. But that only happens because of the "need" to convert and recruit people on the Muslim's part. I'm not entirely sure how the recruitment process works, but you can bet that if the convert has not been exposed much to their ideology they will use people's insecurities or take advantage of people's frustrations with the world and provide them an outlet through this behavior.
But the recruitment would not be there in the first place if there were not so many people filled with such ideologies. Unfortunately their population is growing rapidly...

One of the most critical ages for someone to be radicalised is as a young adult or student. The ostracising of Muslims only adds to this since extremists believe they are fighting against the "oppressive" regimes of western countries.
There is a passge in the Qur'an called the Lesser Jihad. The concept of the Lesser Jihad is a physical fight to defend one's faith and this is where many extremists justify their actions. However they are still not following the teachings as this passage emphasises the need to protect civilians, crops and animals, and only to use minimalist force.
The key to all of this is fear. Extremists are scared of us and we are scared of them. For example if a politican suggested kicking all Buddhists out of the USA there'd be uproar and it would never be allowed. But Trump can say it about Muslims and still consider himself a politician because the public hold their fears and their prejudices.
I imagine there are other factors but there are just my thoughts from my limited knowledge.

Trump is ridiculous, Obama and Hilary are urging for all of us to cooperate and get along, whether Muslim or not, not only because that is the right thing to do, but because we *cannot* let the terrorists achieve their goal of dividing us and making us afraid of each other.

Trump is no politician. What I have to say about him wouldn't be very nice, so I'll refrain.
On a good note, however....thank you, Amelia, for not only the rational thought but the lesson on the Qur'an. You are very wise.
