I just now heard about the attack on a newspaper in Paris this morning. I'm shocked, it's terrible. I don't know much about it yet, but there were awful footage on tv.

It looks like a terroristic attack, because the newspaper placed cartoons about the Islam. It seems like they shouted things like that

The story is continuing. Yesterday there were a lot protest marches around the world. Of course in Paris, but also in Berlin and here in the Netherlands and many more places.
It seems like everyone wanted to say: you can't take away the freedom of opinion. One of the shooters turned himself in yesterday. The other two are on the run. It looks like the police now knows were they are. But there is a lot of shooting at the monent. The media is speaking of a hostage...
This is also such a horrible story. It's all about drawings. Drawings about the Islam. You can discuss if the drawings are inappropiate, but it could never be justify killing...

I guess there will be protest marches here too, I hope so. Sometimes some news hit you extra hard, this one did to me. I read they switched off the lights on the Eiffel tower and the protests are quiet, that's powerful. Just the phrase they use, "Je suis Charlie", is so strong. An attack on a Danish newspaper planned by Swedes was stopped in time, it's all around us. It's hard to stay calm, act with reason and not let fear rule but I hope we can. I find it hard to understand this, being so offended and protective, but I seldom react that way so.

It's really mad what is happening in Paris these days. I hope France can get back to normal soon, once they have the terrorists. It's really shocking to see how religious, fanatic people start to kill people as if it was nothing. How can an abstract thought of a world view become the reason and even justification for people to kill? I don't get it. They showed a snippet of a Muslim on tv saying that you can't answer violence with violence. So far, so right. In this context, it's just ridiculous, though. The staff in the editorial office wasn't violent at any time. There is a difference between criticising things and being violent. That must be so hard to figure out...
The only achievement that the persons made is that more and more people from everywhere in the world start to think that Muslims are terrorists. Congratulations. Was that the intention?

Oh my God they are saying now on breaking news that they think the pilot of the crashed plane did it on purpose. What is this world coming to.

Yes, I heard it too. It's not totally sure yet, but everything is pointing to that. The pilot couldn't go back into the cockpit and that's only possible if the one inside is blocking it.
Crazy world. Yet again a lot of innocent victims....

Yes its pretty much confirmed the co-pilot did it on purpose, its beyond belief how anyone could do this, not only to themselves but to all those other people as well, sad sad sad

It's disturbing to imagine what must have happened in the plane minutes before it crashed. I don't get how someone can be so cruel to kill so many people who trusted in and relied on him. I mean, if you really don't want to live anymore, you can commit suicide. Why kill people who are happy with their lives? It's not fair.
Besides that personal disaster, I think there should be ways to open the cockpit door anyway. Like why don't they install cameras inside the plane and in case sth like this happens, they could check the situation from the flight centre (transmission via sattelite) and unlock the door when the stewardess calls for help. Unlocking could be either realised directly or with the help of a secret key combination that opens up the door in any case. Just my ideas...

You're right but its not until something like this happens that these things are looked at,didnt they start locking the cockpit after 9/11? I'm no expert but it seems to be a major flaw that someone can lock themselves in, with no way for any outside control, like the flight centre,to be able to override the controls ???
We're maybe simplifying things but with advanced technology we have these days surely it can be done Why does it always take a tragedy to happen before people look at these things

Just read that this catastrophy wouldn't have happened in America. They have a rule that whenever one pilot leaves the cockpit, someone else from the crew goes into the cockpit. Hopefully, this rule will now be realised in Germany. It makes sense.

That would be a good solution. But on the other hand: if someone wants bad thing, he will manage...
