I'm still holding out hope until the last second. I know it's slim to none, but hope is all we have! And yes, 4 years, if that, is all we hopefully have to endure, and hopefully that's not enough time to undo everything good that's been done.
So much happening in the world that is awful. Bless these people and their safety.

A truck drove into the Christmas market in Berlin. Just happened. One dead and several wounded.

Thank you for caring. I feel very sorry and sad for those who were killed in my hometown but I am ok and I must admit that I am not really surprised about this news. It was a matter of time until terror attacks reach the capital of Germany but I still love Berlin and the people here and this is not going to change because of people like this.

I am glad you are okay, Dustin! I get what you mean. These days it's not a question anymore if there will be an attack, but more when and where exactly. It's scary.
It feels like another happy moment will be taken away from people. A lot of people enjoy the Christmas markets, including me. It's so much fun...

Awful news, good to hear you're ok. I often think about this and I think like you do. So far it hasn't stopped me from doing things I want to do.

I'm so sorry to hear of this for you and for everyone, Dustin. It's awful that we are made to feel that we can expect this type of heinous behavior and that we are being trained in being watchful for terrorist activities. I know that many countries have lived like this for a very long time, and my heart goes out to them. I'm so angry that good people are put through these horrible atrocities, but I do know that people have a way of drawing strength from each other, and one day, hopefully that will help stop these villains. We can't be stopped from living our lives, but I admit to feeling very vulnerable sometimes. Please know that we are here, Dustin (or anyone) that wants to vent. My thoughts go out to everyone affected by this tragedy.

I've lost complete respect for the so-called leaders of this country - the people voted in to supposedly watch our backs and protect our interests. Almost 3 million people more voted for Hillary Clinton, yet Donald Trump was officially elected President tonight in a disgusting show of a lack of leadership. I have no respect for the Congressmen, Senators and administrative people that allowed this tyrant with no experience, shady business dealings (especially as president) and no couth to run our country. I have no faith or respect for the electoral college or what allowed this to happen. I hope everyone will keep us in their thoughts and if it fits you, your prayers, for the next four years. We are going to need it.

Did you see the protestor today yelling at the electors, "You stole our country, you sold us out," before security took her out of the room. Chilling, and hard to watch.

Like the last line says, Obama, please don't go. He is all kinds of crazy cool and wonderful. Barack Obama Banned Oil Drilling Across Lots Of The Arctic: Here's Why That's ImportantTHE DEBRIEF: PRESIDENT OBAMA ANNOUNCED A 'PERMANENT' BAN ON OFFSHORE OIL AND GAS DRILLING IN THE ARCTIC. GOOD LUCK UNDOING THAT ONE PRESIDENT TRUMP. I want you to imagine, just for a minute, that you’re the President of the United States. You’ve served for two terms and in just under a month you’re handing the reins over to somebody else. They’re not exactly the person you would have chosen to replace you…in fact they’re worse than evil hooded Kermit. You’ve got a few days to tie up loose ends, say your goodbyes and do a few last minute things. How do you use them? If you’re Barack Obama you do the ultimate mic drop, flipping the bird to your haters and saying so long suckerssss’ to the people who’ve been trying to make it difficult for you to do good work for the last eight years. Yesterday President Obama announced a permanent ban on offshore oil and gas drilling in the arctic. Of course he bloody did. In doing this Obama has cemented his environmental legacy and made sure that it cannot be quickly or easily undone by America’s next President – who is of course, no other than the climate change sceptic scrooge Donald Trump who has sworn to roll back the Obama administration’s environmental policies. Donald Trump has not only questioned the science of climate change, he has promised voters that he will tap into America’s fossil fuel reserves and threatened to do away with the Paris climate agreement. Trump has already hired several climate change deniers. In an attempt to do what he can before Trump takes office, Obama used an obscure law, known as the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act, which allows him to act without having to go through Congress. He has put a permanent drilling ban in place on the ocean floor from Virginia to Maine and along much of Alaska’s coast. Basically, he’s banned it in most of the Arctic and Atlantic oceans which is being reported as an unprecedented presidential intervention. To put that in context, we’re talking about millions of acres of the ocean floor! If Trump wants to undo this he will have to take it to a federal court, he can’t simply make a change when he steps into the Oval Office. Just when you thought this story couldn’t get any better…Obama didn’t act alone. It was a joint move with the Canadian prime minister, Justin Trudeau, who has also placed a ban on drilling in the Arctic which is subject to a review. In a statement the White House said the decision had been made in order to protect ‘a strong sustainable and viable Arctic economy and ecosystem’. Their intention is to safeguard the needs of people in the area, protect wildlife and insure the area against oil spills. Obama, please don’t go. link
