Thanks Carina. I am not sure I want to read them if they only focus on that, but thanks for posting.
It was an incredible interview. One I need to see again and again I think. Even my husband remarked, when I was watching the video bit that Chris is a very interesting man and he likes hearing him speak.

The articles don't say much to be honest, mostly quotes from the interview. And there are nasty comments, so I chose to just post links I listened again and again last night, couldn't sleep lol. When I finally slept, I dreamed about Coldplay.

I love how Zane still loves every band he evers interviews. I remember when he was on mtv and they mad fun of him about 10 years ago when interviewing eminem. Anyway, i really loved it, glad he spoke a bit about his life because its obviously had such an affect on the album as a whole.
The best parts were talking about his love for the band... its always is. Theres a gang mentality that i love. Not changed since the uni days

this is the most vulnerable, honest interview chris has ever given. no jokes, brushing-off to get away from answering questions. he was as real and open as he can be considering all the media hoopla surrounding him right now. i understand why the other members are not that involved in the promotional cycle this time around. it clearly is a very personal story for chris and it would be like talking about a close friend's darkest hours to a stranger for jonny, will and guy to actually do interviews and address the themes behind it.
and supposedly this is a one-off. no more interviews for this album release (according to zane lowe/bbc). I think that fits quite nicely too. hope he said everything he wanted to say. to hell with what people make of this interview/timing/etc. as a fan, now that i listened to the whole interview, i'm just happy that he seems to be in a better place now (i wasn't thrilled with the previews considering the timing, theme).
for anyone who doubted that chris has gone all hollywood, this should clear things up. and any issues with the decisions of the band and chris (like the voice stint), it is clear that everything is not black and white. it is much more complicated than that. in all, i feel like it is still the same band/mentality since their first EPs in essence.
about taking the blame, i think he is a gentleman taking it on the chin. but nothing's what it seems and i'm sure we just heard one part of the story. and i love how he focused on the personal ties to the album/music and not discuss any concrete details. after all, it is none of our business.

I loved the interview. Today I am proud to say I am a Coldplay fan and proud that Chris is an idol of mine, of sorts (for someone who is younger than me!) I'm going to have to listen to it a second time, but I think my favorite part was him talking about Apple and Moses, having to explain Jeffrey Dahmer to her (or did he have to have Jeffrey Dahmer explained to him? It was hard to catch). I did feel sad when he said that O is a song that says "you're amazing, I need to improve a bit" (or whatever the exact quote was, sorry--need to watch it again!)

I've put the interview on my iPod and listened to it again in the car tonight. I agree with gai. Is was a honest interview and I am even more proud to a fan of this band/ man. It's hard to live this famous live I think. Partly, I know how he feels. If you are really messed up, it's hard to see the beautiful things in the world and your life. And that's hard for the loved ones, to live with you. I've been there, but my relationship survived it.
I really hope Chris is feeling better and he will have joy and happiness again. Life is black/white if your messed up, but there is a lot a beauty and colour out there.

What struck me after listening to the whole thing is, how much has changed between the Howard Stern interview and this one. Howard Stern was busy egging him on for more details about his marriage and love/sex life, and this interview has Chris just voluntarily baring his soul without directly referencing his love life.
I think this album will go a long way in liberating Chris from all his remaining shackles - a liberated artist is a wonderful artist. Just think of what else is to come!
My favorite quote was when he mentioned that if he didn't have music, he could not have been hanging out with this wonderful person, his daughter. What a way to think about the last 10 years of his life and relationships, whether successful or not.
Also I have never been more jealous of all those 900 people that made it out to the recording in LA... I hope they were all true fans and were deserving of that experience!

You all have interesting thoughts, more than any news articles I've found Did anyone notice if things have been cut out from the videos? For example, didn't he mention Phil? But perhaps that was later on. I'm tired.

Yes maybe that will be in part three or four? I can't recall now either.
I agree with you Dee about the Howard Stern interview, it was a huge difference. In that interview he was on his guard, warding off the questions as best he could. In this one he is far more open, leading the questions, jumping in with 'No let me stop and actually explain this..' I know the style of interviewer is totally different. Howard Stern goes out of his way to make the interviewee feel uncomfortable, it's a confrontational style, rather than a relaxed chat which I felt Zane's was.
This was the first time I have seen Chris relaxed enough in an interview not to make jokes all the time. The jokes cover his insecurities I think. But this is not to say he wasn't funny in this, just not constantly.
It was sad to hear he has been struggling so long with these issues, but I am glad to know he is coming to terms with them now.
As for the papers reports of this. Most of them are clearly not listening, mis-quoting, taking things out of context and making it up! (business as usual for the media then?).

I've just watched parts 1 and 2, absolutely stunning. Chris is so sincere.
I think I can watch a hundred times more and I would understand more and more things.
Let's do it!

i don't like the video as much as the audio because it has been edited (pbviously both have been, but i prefer the flow of the audio). the phil reference was edited out. probably for chris since he sounded very uncomfortable and squirming in his chair at that point. i think zane is considerate like that. but, for me, that breaks the flow of the interview.
is it only me that totally loves the studio version of oceans? that just hit me hard when i heard it. for me it sounded as raw as can be for coldplay.

No it's not just you! I absolutely LOVE it. I cannot wait to hear it on the record! I agree that the video has been edited, but I do like looking at it. Sorry can't help it #fangirlproblems

I thought I was losing my mind, but the video was cut, wasn't it? I love both, but I admit to wanting to see the video.

I realised something today. Do you guys remember the painting Chris bought at the start of this year? The balloon heart with the tapes? It seems like a it is a fitting painting for him.
