I know im fairly new but I'd love if you guys could help me out with a little something
I have a friend who I'm really close to she and I got in an argument. One of the reasons we got along was our love for coldplay and id figured dedicating a nice coldplay song would help. Any ideas of which one?

This started happening to me to! All of a sudden, for no reason I could think of.
I made a salve of beeswax, oil, lavender and calendula which are all healing. Cuticles are much better, can't say it's helped the nails yet though.

I once used some products of Herome for my nails. One of these things was a stift with oily-butter - great stuff! Your story makes me curious what the sudden reason is that your nails go brittle. Is it because of a change of dieet maybe?

I did wonder about that, I thought maybe I was lacking something but everything I've read so far says moisturise I do think Carina that you have to start with the cuticles so you're probably doing the right thing, I'll keep at it and we'll see Edit ...have just read article that suggests lack of vit A and B, it also states fish oils, which I kind of knew so I will get some and see Will report back and let you know

Good Luck Karen! I have always had weak nails and have to keep them fairly short and use a hardening polish on them.

I wondered about diet too, but couldn't see I made any changes.
If you have a Lush store in your town I heard their Lemony Flutter works wonders for cuticles and dry skin in general.

I hope you can get them sorted Karen. Cuticles are the place to start for sure. But you could be lacking something. Try a multivit maybe?
I have to admit that I 'Cheat' where my nails are concerned. I have a silk overlay on them, and it stops them breaking. I do it myself, so I don't have to shell out thousands of pounds, but for me it works. I have always had nails that grow, but they get to a certain point and then break low down.. so this stops that happening. I love nail art, so that's one of the reasons I like long nails.
If it doesn't work for the Christening Karen, you can always cheat. There are various 'stick on' nails you can buy from Boots, or Superdrug. You can get the semi permanent stuff, that doesn't ruin your nails, they would last for a day or so.

I do think its either a lack of something or maybe a general reaction to the recent 'stress' in my life, we all have different ways of dealing with bereavement and I've been very upbeat and positive but sometimes thats my downfall because I keep things bottled up This is why my diet went to the wall because I was telling myself I deserved treats, any excuse to shovel chocolate in my mouth lol I am eating better, I've started on the fish oils multi-vits if this doesn't work then I've got to accept I'm falling apart You're right Row there are so many short term remedies my nails will rock on the day!!!

I've come to think everything in your body reacts to what you put in it. I'm no health nut, but if I eat well, drink a ton of water, exercise, then everything else falls into place. I agree that you might have a vitamin deficiency, maybe look at your diet and see if you are getting enough fruit and veg and protein, etc. Your nails certainly can be an indicator of health!
