I know this isn't in even a slightly similar vein, but it annoys me intensely.
My neighbours have two dogs. One is an old lady now, the other a younger boy. They leave them outside in the garden for HOURS on end whining and barking.. Not only is it bloody annoying, but I feel so sorry for them! They are clearly not enjoying themselves out there, barking and crying to go indoors again. :(
Sigh.

Why do people have animals if they don't care for them properly? My sister has a beautiful black Lab called Cody, latest in a long line so she knows what she's doing, when he was finding his 'voice' as a growing pup she was very aware of annoying neighbours, she invested in a special collar that would give a quick spray of water if he barked and it worked. He's now a fine young man and of course he will bark at the postman, or anyone who comes to the door, thats fine he's doing his job, but he's learned that barking in the garden for no good reason is not on!!! lol Seriously though are they approachable? could you have a word? If not then maybe the 'Noise Police' might have a word, they dont have to say where the complaint came from, Im sure you're not the only ones getting fed up with it

They are friends.. so yes we can talk to them. But I think it's the teenage daughter home alone, and I don't want to get her into trouble, or cause bad feeling you know? I think its more difficult when you know them as friends.. But at the same time, yes I think we need to have a little chat.

You know teenagers!! she's probably got her headphones on and is oblivious to the noise lol we had neighbours once whose dog for some reason started to bark while they were out, it only happened a few times but somebody reported them, she asked me why I had'nt said anything because she felt really bad but I was doing the British thing to wait and see if it would stop, it was resolved though so perhaps a chat will sort the problem

OK so you guys know how I had to go buy a new lamp? I know you all have been following this story closely right? LOL. So, I had this really old lamp, and when I put a new light bulb in it, it started blinking on and off constantly like it had a short in it or a loose wire or something. It wouldn't stay on anymore. But it's a really old lamp so I'm like, yeah. So I went out to the store tonight and bought a new lamp, came home and spent like an HOUR putting it together, and put the light bulb in it, and it started blinking on and off too! After ALL THAT, I found out it was the light bulb, the brand new light bulb that I had just gotten from the store. </img> I did not know light bulbs could do this! Apparently I got a bad light bulb from the store, but instead of not working at all, it just started blinking on and off. Weird!!! There must be a lesson in this story somewhere???

Weird, I did'nt know they could do that either, I thought they worked or didnt work, strange This may sound weird as well but my sister had a light that would flicker from time to time, it was a new fitting etc, but it used to happen a lot when my mum got poorly, they lived some distance apart at this time, my sis was convinced it was our dear departed Dad trying to send a message as it nearly always happened at this time, anyone trying to send you a message? Your story just reminded me of this

Ghost Hunters, love it! I had a lamp that did the same thing several years ago in another house, and we both started to really wonder what was going on when another lamp started doing it and no one found anything wrong with the electrical system. I wonder if the people that live there now have that problem? I know them, so now I must check! I'm surprised it wasn't my hub who loves to play little jokes on me sometimes. One time (knowing my sister and I were in Walmart and he came from work to meet us for dinner) he sat across the parking lot and kept hitting the unlock/lock and panic buttons on my car just to see me and her get in and out trying to figure out what the heck was going on. OR the time he kept messing with the tv at the control panel making me think something spooky was happening AS I was watching Ghost Hunters, haha. It would cut off and I'd call him, then it would miraculously turn back on when he came back. Then when he left, it would go off again, I'd call him, it would come back on. I'm not gullible usually, and I let this happen several times before I caught on. And he also got me (and everyone else) when he slid downstairs during our Y2K New Year's Eve party and cut the power to the house at the stroke of midnight making everyone freak out a bit thinking the world had "gone down" like some were predicting. I only fell for it for a few seconds because I'd noticed the neighbors lights on across the street! I don't know why I'm rambling about all of this!! I hope your lamp situation is fixed now, Leann. That's basically what I'm trying to say.
