Sometimes i fail to understand their criteria fot the maturity of a song, how can they write songs such VLV, VH and Yes and then write something like Magic. Like, don't they think "Oh wait, isn't this quite immature for us? I mean we are adults and this is our 6th album we should see us as a mature act" But noooo everything is magic with rainbows and unicorns.

I'm really really mad right now I agree the lyrics suck really bad. Very disappointing. However, I do like the sound, and hey, maybe this song will fit in really nice to the album. Perhaps the first half is really laid back and dreamy, and then comes Midnight, and the second half gets very dark and strange. Magic is like a meh, 6/10 or 7/10 but it doesn't have me concerned going forward. But those lyrics... yeah, they've got some cleaning up to do. |

As expected: A catchy simple pop song. Nicely done, just very sweet and very safe. Glad its not an overdone overproduced track, no paradise, but it still is so crisp and polished. Lyrics are really simple, they fit with it being a simple love song but its all so safe.. Midnight is so different, much more interesting and so the best news for me is that Midnight is on the album. That I did not expect. Now there are chances that there is more interesting stuff on there  I hope.. |

I just... I liked where they were going at first with it, to be honest. Then it kinda pooped out without going anywhere special or interesting. Especially with that horrible over-reliance on repeating certain words, DID YOU NOT LEARN?
To use a common analogy on this forum I think the balls just strapped on some jetpacks, seperated themselves from the body and zoomed straight outta here. I don't know if I'll get used to it, I mean I did manage to appreciate Princess of China for what it was after 3 years, though this dangerously teeters on the edge of mediocrity which usually ends up being an instant 'nope'.
I just feel a little let down here. Hold me. It'll be okay, it's just a little disappointing

I like it. Very different from Midnight, but I had a feeling it would be. Very excited to see what the rest of the album sounds like, May cant get here fast enough...

I like the sound of it but the lyrics are really REALLY immature for four men over 35 years old YES! It's no even close to what they wrote in the past first three albums. But that being said, I'm not disappointed at all. Magic it's like some Parachutes track emerge on Mylo Xyloto. Midnight is very interesting, but I don't like this type of song. Magic remembers me of their old songs in Parachutes so I'm like it more than a lot of songs of MX. |

I like but I love the second half of the song, and yes the lyrics are not great but they usually reserve the best songs for the album, let's wait and see

I loved where the song began, curious on how it develop. But I feel like the main ingredients for which I love Coldplay are kinda missing. Clever catchy chorus melodies and guitar parts.. So that said, the chorus didn't get to me, the rest of the song did.

Right. The song. I love it. But I don't feel there is the same love for this as for Midnight generally. I think this song has to be catchy, commercial it's the lead single for a new era. A new album.
It is all that. And I have been singing it all day.
Imagine jonnys guitar parts in this live. Personally I am sure they have a winner here.
I give it a solid 9 out of 10. If not a 10.
Call me a blind fan if you like. But I honestly love it.
