British Group Nominations Announced
Alt-J Clean Bandit Coldplay One Direction Royal Blood Seasoned BRIT Awards veterans Coldplay are nominated in this category for the sixth time in the band’s history, up against Alt-J, One Direction and BRITs newcomers Clean Bandit and Royal Blood. Coldplay have already taken home the BRIT Award for British Group three times, in 2001, 2003 and 2012. Their trophy cabinet holds a total of eight BRITs, from 21 nominations over the years, including for British Album, Single, Group and Best Live Act. alt-J were three-times nominated at The BRITs in 2012, for British Breakthrough Act, British Album and British Group. Once again they find themselves up against Coldplay in this category, who took home the award in 2012. Also previously nominated in this category are One Direction, who were up for the award in both 2013 and 2014, losing out to Mumford & Sons and Arctic Monkeys respectively. The band have taken home a total of four BRITs in previous years, including for British Video and Global Success in 2014. Clean Bandit will perform at ‘The BRITs Are Coming’ Nominations Launch event, whilst fellow first-time nominees Royal Blood will be performing on the night of the ceremony itself. The BRIT Awards 2015 take place at London’s O2 Arena on 25 February and will be broadcast live on ITV at 8pm GMT. See all the nominations here. link

If I'm not mistaken, I think this will be a voting category. ?? If so, we have to make this happen!

Ed Sheeran was amazing, that kid is so talented wow I had heard of Royal Blood but heard them, not my kind of music but well done to them booo for coldplay I do admit to a bit of a chuckle when Her Madge fell down, I couldn't help it,but it was after she got back up and obviously wasn't badly hurt I have mixed feelings where she's concerned, being in the same age bracket, sometimes I want to shout Grow up and other times You go girl, at least she's not boring I suppose!

So the guy on my radio station says they play Royal Blood, but I don't know which song. I'll have to look it up on Youtube, probably heard them and not known it.
Yes, 1D not winning is a good thing.

I actually have Royal Blood on my ipod and like them pretty well, but of course, I wanted CP to come out on top as I always do. And yes, I wanted 1D to go down. It's not that I'm against them. I think everyone has their place in music, everyone has their fans. We need music to cover a variety of tastes. But for me, a boy/singing band is different than an instrument-playing, songwriting band. I know it's not realistic, but sometimes I wish there were categories separating the two. I don't know, rambling!
I know I shouldn't laugh at someone falling, but I'm like Karen, I could help but chuckle when Madonna went down.
I noticed one of the announcers said, "Someone's been listening to Coldplay, eh" after Take That's performance...

Coldplay didn't win? What a pit lol I think it was pretty clear that they wouldn't win anything this year

While I'm not sure I thought they'd bring the award home, I also don't think it was clear that they wouldn't. Last year saw them having a #1 album that ended up as a top 5 selling album worldwide. They sold out concerts in very few minutes with thousands vying for tickets anywhere they could get them. Ghost Stories is a taste thing for anyone, just like the other albums. I know two people here that think Viva sucked while I know others absolutely loved it. I still stick to my thought that GS was less a CP fan/critics album for the band and more of a deep, genuine heartbreak album for Chris to come to terms with his breakup. And releasing it to the world may have been one of the steps he was trying to take to "improve" himself and be more forthright. We all know they held way back on promotion and concerts. Who the heck knows, this is just my opinion. We can all get out of it what we want. I'm just saying that I didn't think it wasn't out of the realm of possibility that they win because they were very successful in 2014, and someone thought it had enough merit for a nomination in the first place. I'm a music hog that loves a lot of other music, and I know this is a very fan thing to say, but even though I may love other artists in their categories and think they deserve to win, I just never want CP to lose. Shoot me, I admit it.

I wish they'd won. But I'm not totally surprised.
