I thought I might put my youngest son's rendition/version/cover of Atlas here if you might want to have a listen. He plays and sings, and as his mom, ahem, I think it's pretty darned good. LOL! Since it wasn't really planned out, when he got to the end where the guitars kick in on the original song, he wasn't sure where to go, so it ends rather abruptly, but you get the picture. As Chris would say, tell me you love it, if you don't, then lie to me. wink, wink Atlas Cover
Beautiful! I think it's pretty darned good as well!

i was thinking about the coldplay's legacy and realized that no matter how much flack they would get, they would be remembered as one of the key acts, if not one of the best, from this generation. because when you look at the more noteworthy musical projects that happen today with more acclaimed musicians, considerable number of times there is coldplay presence. like 12-12-12, or this documentary with foo fighters. even if just through chris, they are present with very important musicians. just wish the other three got their due respect. it's a shame.
what do you guys think?

I agree that they have definitely left their mark on music history in general. I know that's a sweeping statement, but I do believe it. And as much flack as they get, they receive way more love and admiration. I'm immensely proud to be a fan because not only are they truly talented, they are humble and apparently down to earth family men with humor and honor and charitable natures...who really care about their fans. Amazing. As for the others, I'm not sure they mind not getting a ton of attention from the press. Or it seems that way. Chris seems to give them credit or talk them up but if they wanted more they would be in the videos or step up I think. Maybe? I don't know. Will said it was a blessing to be in the band and not be the singer. I think it's pretty much the same across the board for bands that the front men/lead singers get a lion's share of attention since they are the ones up front and engaging with the audience. Plus I think Chris just can't sit still! I do see the point, though, and do think it would be really cool to hear from the others more. They each have a very special place in the band. I'm rambling now! Long story short, I agree they will most definitely leave a huge mark on music!

i agree that the others seem to prefer getting less attention. or else, they would do something about it. i was talking about the credit that they get from the public or the press. it's too bad they do not get their fair share. it could be part of who is more visible i guess.

I think it is, it's like, to the public at large, they are nameless and faceless. People think this is Chris being arrogant and a show off, but we know of course, this couldn't be further from the truth!

^ yes. not sure which one though. on another note.. wow! GS hasn't gone platinum yet in US. with no tour supporting the release any more, the chances of this going platinum seem slim now. with some artists selling more albums than they have done, think this is more of an indication of the decline in popularity for coldplay or album sales in general? i think it is a bit of both combined with reduced promo compared to the last 3 albums.

I think it's because they haven't done much promo and the tour has been virtually nonexistent. Hopefully LP7 will be a different matter.

All of the above........I think this was something Chris just had to get off his chest so to speak, to enable him to deal with his marital problems in a public way so that he could eventually move forward to the new phases of his life... (You know, like when you start a diet, it gives you that extra power to stick with it if you tell everyone and let then watch the progress.) As for the other 3 and never getting enough credit in all things, I seriously doubt you would find many other "bands" willing to allow such a personal and probably not-as-profitable album to be put out there to help their front man emotionally. Their fidelity and friendship should never be doubted after this, and it just confirms that their "celebrity status" is pretty much how they want it.
One more thing, COLDPLAY rules, but I think it will take a long time for the naysayers to look back and realize that.
