Phil talks about it here. does anyone have full access to the article? if they manage to do it, that would be pretty great!

even us fans didn't know about the treehouse until now. and i don't think the band would mind of the general ignorance to their charitable work. tells a lot about their character. x

I agree, and I would also say they strive for anonymity many times. Chris has questioned people on how they knew the band gave 10% of their profits off the top to charity among other things. The ones they announce on twitter seem to be to individual causes to generate public interest so they too will donate.

agreed. came across this old article when coldplay first announced the under one roof gig. xthere is no knowing how many charities they support or work they do anonymously. also i remember reading in 2013, that chris has volunteered at a christmas time food donation program since he moved to london for college. that was his 18th consecutive year. this was written by another volunteer who volunteered with him at the time. and hardly anyone knows about these things. love this band!

How wonderful, lets hope they succeed, as I said before its the most vulnerable that will suffer without this charity, and you can bet our Government wont rush to put anything in its place Aaaah Coldplay you restore my faith in humanity in this screwed up world

It's an interesting article that gai posted above. I didn't know CP operated through a charitable foundation known as JJ Van Mars. If it's true, it's also very interesting in other ways regarding the charity. It came as a whistleblower said no-one was punished after the theft of thousands of pounds by a suspected drug user who drove a BMW. The man, who had worked there as a therapist at the time of the alleged incident, revealed police were called after more than £10,000 went missing from the finance department in 2012. He added that 'nothing came of it' despite staff concerns and while some of the money was from donors, 'a significant portion' was public money. He said it was an example of the 'chaos' at the organisation, where a number of troubled youngsters, dubbed the 'chosen ones', had extensive access at the charity's London headquarters......A former employee has claimed teenage girls were groomed for sex by older male clients they met at the charity's centres, which a girl who once used the organisation said 'spending money' given to youngsters was spent on drugs. Ms Batmanghelidjh has said she believed the sex abuse claims will be proved untrue. But I know that so many kids were helped by this charity, and I applaud everyone who are trying to help them.

Theres a lot of unsettling stories emerging, unfortunately once the ball starts rolling these 'sources' all start coming along, we know all about them dont we!! It will take a while for the truth to emerge but there have been various reports about kids being given money to spend on what they like, drugs, drink who knows, it certainly seems that it needed to clean up its act but Im not sure that complete closure was the answer

there seem to have been red flags for awhile. at least when it comes to finances. in 2013, their total income was ~25 mil and 15 mil was spent on salaries. also there seem to have been disparities on the amount of money spent and the number of kids they supported. financially, there seem to have been some corruption. then of course there are the other allegations that are over the place and not proven or investigated yet.
what coldplay seem to be doing is trying to salvage the unit that they had sponsored. hopefully it will work out, but there are a lot of logistics to be worked out and money to be raised to continue an operation like that. hope the kids company management will not be involved if this works out, because they do seem to have been corrupt, or at least mismanaged.
