I don't think you have an unpopular opinion. I think you are right. The performance was good.
Beyonce and Bruno are two spectacular performers. Coldplay are 'just four ordinairy boys'.
You could see that with the performance they all did together. Beyonce and Bruno in black and exciting outfits. Chris in between them, in a white shirt and some kind of jeans.
I love the boys for that reason, they are 'normal', down to earth. But like you say Amelia, that's not the image from the Super Bowl.
I didn't know the Halftime Show. Of course heard of it. Now after it, I can only agree with that what Sharon said in advance: they shouldn't have done this.

John Oliver is a very witty, smart comedian, but very unfunny when his jokes are at Coldplay's expense.
In hindsight, Beyonce should have just done HFTW & Up & Up. No Bruno Mars. The guys were great and charts all over the world show it. No pundit or so called expert is going to tell me how to feel about it grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I didn't find anything that Beyonce or Bruno did appealing. Surely there are millions in the world feeling the same way.

FEB 17, 2016 @ 08:05 PM 453 VIEWS The Super Bowl Spurred Sales Bumps For Coldplay, Bruno Mars And Beyoncé Beyonce (L) and Chris Martin of Coldplay perform onstage during the Pepsi Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show at Levi’s Stadium on February 7, 2016 in Santa Clara, California. (Photo by Matt Cowan/Getty Images) The Super Bowl is the most-watched program in the world, so of course anybody involved will benefit from the attention, especially those musicians that performed during the halftime show, all of whom saw their albums sell very well after the game was over. As the headliners, British rockers Coldplay benefitted the most, even if they weren’t the focus for many people watching. The group’s collective discography jumped 365% in sales in the U.S., according to Nielsen. The week prior to the Super Bowl, the band sold 20,000 albums, while this past week they were able to shift an impressive 93,000. The best-performing of their titles is their latest—and last?—album, A Head Full Of Dreams. The record debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 back in December behind Adele, and since then has slowly worked its way down the charts. This frame, it bounced back, rising from number sixteen to number four. Bruno Mars also experienced an enormous gain in sales thanks to his co-starring role in the show. Mars and collaborator Mark Ronson performed their international smash and recent Record of the Year Grammy winning-track “Uptown Funk!”. Thanks to his high-octane performance, Mars’ catalog sales increased from 2,000 sales to 10,000 copies. Mars only has two albums, Doo-Wops And Hooligans and Unorthodox Jukebox, and while 2,000 may seem like a rather low total for someone as popular as Bruno, it’s important to remember that he hasn’t released an album or a single of his own in a few years, as he is in between cycles. Just as she did a few years ago, Beyoncé also took to the field, and people responded by snapping up additional copies of her records. In the week before the Bowl, her five solo albums sold 9,000 copies, but after her much-talked-about and controversial (to some) performance, she sold 13,000 units. Her gains are smaller than the other two acts because she didn’t play one of her hits, but rather the new cut “Formation”, which was offered as a free download on streaming platform Tidal the weekend of the game. While a 365% increase in sales is certainly impressive and good news for Coldplay and their label, it pales in comparison to last year’s post-game winner, Missy Elliott. The rapper joined headliner Katy Perry on stage to perform a few of her hits, and afterwards her catalog witnessed a 2,500% jump in total sales. The rockers did win over Perry, who shifted a lowly 21,000 records after her starring role—less than one fourth Coldplay’s total.

I will never let the pundits tell me how to feel. The viewing audience saw something different as reflected in these numbers. Good music is good music. Enough said!

Can you tell I just won't let it go? lol 2. Coldplay continues to ride the Super Bowl wave The band’s 800,000 Shazams this week were more than any other artist worldwide, which was enough to make ‘Hymn for the Weekend’ rise in 46 of Shazams charts. So much for Beyoncé and Bruno Mars stealing the show. www.shazam.com/news/what-we-learned-about-this-weeks-charts-3

So i was thinking just this morning if Chris,Jonny,Guy,and Will weren't the most non-egotistical,humble,kind, generous and non-self- centered group of very talented rock stars that they are. They could have excluded Beyonce and Bruno Mars, did a mini HFOD concert ,made it all about Coldplay, they would have really shut down the haters! Maybe invite Beyonce to do" Hymn For The Weekend". So today I find this article by a Charlotte Wilder in" For The Win" USA today sports.Titled "Beyonce should be the only person allowed to perform in the superbowl". Yes maybe I am very biased and I take offense to people hating on our beloved band but this article really got me mad ! Because I know they could have showed these haters but instead chose to share this event. I wanted so much to comment but there was no place for comments. I have in the past which funny thing is so did V and we actually exchanged conversation with each other on the same article a few years ago! Don"t know if I put this in the right thread? Just needed to vent!

People just like to hate on Coldplay, and they don't even seem to have a good reason. I see people post things like, "I can't stand Chris Martin." Also, people are very Beyoncé-biased, just like we're CP biased. They loved Beyoncé no matter what she does. It's a ridiculous notion that only she should play the Superbowl. It's like saying there's only one kind of music to listen to.
