So we all can't wait to hear new Coldplay tunes but this is a topic that I would love to hear your opinions on.
Well before MX came out we were able to hear a good amount of the new songs live which at the time we all loved. The problem was that some people fell in love with those live versions after a few hundred plays and were dissapointed when they heard differences in the studio tracks. You also run the risk of feeling like you have heard too much before the album comes out - some people want to go in to it as brand new.
So with this itunes gig in a few weeks and LP6 on the way what do you think... do you want them to play new songs? How many?
For what it is worth I think they have to play some new stuff to make that strong we're back statement. To play their first big show back with a four year old set list might come off as a little weak.

One or two.. yes definitely. More than that, probably no. I think it's nice to have a whole LP to look forward to. I do think MX probably was overplayed before release. People (me included if I am honest) were, I think disappointed when it came out that there wasn't as much new stuff on it as anticipated. Very slight anti-climax.
So I have voted to hear new stuff, but not too much! One new single and maybe play one other live.

For this album I want an experience completely different from the MX one so no new songs or maybe just one

They played Under 1 Roof with the old setlist, but I think and hope they should add new and old material for iTunes festival. One or two new songs, one being the lead single eventually. I hope though, that they save most of the new songs for the album release. Hard as it is to wait, I love surpises!

I don't mind hearing stuff live before it's released, as long as they don't play too much of the album before it's out, and as long as it doesn't differ too much from the finished product.

Like said above. Hoping for a few new songs. I can't imagine they are doing a concert like this, without some new material. Hoping for maybe two new songs.
Haven't experienced the release of MX, but I agree that they can't release a lot of songs before the LP. The excitement of the LP would be vaished if the most songs were released before it.

I'm gonna pretend the new songs in live version are just preview of the studio version. Still can't wait for the album!

Glad we got to hear a few new songs the other night, but I would be perfectly content with things staying the way they are. I don't want to hear any more new songs until the album comes out. By the time MX came out, we pretty much knew every song on it ( the live versions anyway) and I don't think I nessasarily liked that.
