Who thinks they're more confident about the release of Ghost Stories than when they release Mylo Xyloto? Because I think they are. In my mind this explains the straightforward announcement of Ghost Stories with the album already finished and release date. With Mylo Xyloto they played the new songs one hundred times on concerts before finishing the album and gave us a release date later. I remember that they were even write songs like Up in Flames for the album while touring. It seems pretty different this time and I think this is a great sign of big things to come. :oops

They were also very confident for Viva. The months leading up to the MX release were chaotic. 6 months after Christmas lights, they released ETIAW in June (and we were not even sure if it was the proper first single), then they started touring and kept recording and changing songs and writing new ones. It was a mess. And I remember all of us waiting for the September deadline they gave Parlophone to have a tracklist, an official album title and a release date. It was stressful. This time, they didn't tease us with anything until all was said and done. This is 1000000x better because by the time the album is out, people will still be buzzing about it. Last time, many were worn out before the album release.

once they said in an interview that they are skeptical about odd numbered album because they think is going to be a difficult process, and the strange thing is that... they are right! If we leave out Parachutes which is their debut album, X&Y (3) we all know how it went, MX (5) there was less tension than X&Y but it was all messy and they were really scared about the reviews and everything

This is very true.. and we know that the first album was a trial to record. They actually fired their first producer.

^i know and they had a lot of fights before the release of the album *cough* Will leaving the band *cough* there's an italian book about them that described well the tension before parachutes and all the problems they had with their first producer, it was almost painful to read what they had been through

Amazing isn't it? They have come so far, and yet they are still SUCH lovely people.

I'm not sure why we would think Chris would announce the tour to someone from the gym, we know he can be cagey when he wants to be. As has already been said, playing live to their fans is their lifeblood, plus, aren't the tours usually like fourth or fifth most-grossing tours of the year? I think that's where the bulk of their cash comes from, and they all have kids to send to college!

Yes, I agree, lets not base the WHOLE of Coldplay's future on one maybe unreliable gym member!

You can’t judge a song by it’s title but you can sure as hell get exited about them!
So here is a ranking regarding my anticipation of the unheard Ghost Stories tracks based entirely on their titles…
01. A Sky Full of Stars 02. Ink 03. Ghost Stories (Hidden track - c’mon, you know it’s on there!) 04. Always In My Head 05. Oceans 06. O 07. Another’s Arms 08. True Love
Of course if you woud have told me in May of 2008 that my favorite song off of Viva was going to end up being Strawberry Swing I would have said you were crazy - but it's fun to speculate.

We should keep in mind people were saying the exact same thing when that person tweeted he heard about Ghost Stories, from the mouth of Chris, back in January. No one believed him then, but look what happened.

I am basing this off absolutely nothing, but O has me excited and I can't even place why exactly. Seems very 42-ish, in the sense of it being simple and obscure. That, and Ink have me the most curious. (And I am totally willing to place money that there will be more than one hidden track.)

^I agree. I'm very curious what "O" is going to sound like. It's also the album closer, and in my opinion every album closer from Coldplay so far have been fantastic, so I have high expectations for that song. "True Love" has me intrigued as I would never have guessed Coldplay to make a song with a title so... straightforward I guess. I'm most curious what the lyrics will be for that one. "Another's Arms" is right after "Midnight" so whoever that song is about must have answered Chris' cry for someone to "leave a light on."

I got an e-mail today from Recordstore, with this link for pre-order: www.recordstore.co.uk/search.html?term=ghost+storiesCD £11.99, vinyl £19.99 I want a vinyl, I guess it will be available from Swedish stores too (it isn't yet) so I'll wait for a while I think. Wasn't it Recordstore that sold the Live 2012 DVD and poster?

About what Chris said at the gym apparently... First, we don't know what he really meant. But if it's indeed true that they will play in smaller venues, it would be AWESOME!!! They can still do a proper world tour, only with smaller capacity venues! I'm still not giving up, one day they'll come to my country and other countries that don't have huge stadiums

As long as they tour, and as long as everyone can see them who wants to. If they played smaller venues, I can see the demand for tickets being totally crazy, it's already incredibly difficult to get tickets. It worries me that I wouldn't be able to see them if they went too small.
