I've seen a few people saying that the tour won't be on the same scale as MX. This doesn't really make sense to me.. why would they scale down now?

I think that we are guessing this because everything about Ghost Stories release seems much more low key than their two previous eras, i also think that there won't be a lot of stadium gigs during this era, my guess is that it will be a lot like the first part of the Viva Tour with the band playing low-key warm-up gigs at first and then moving on to big arenas...

I wasn't on Coldplaying when the Viva Tour started. Was it soon after the announcement of the album?

I don't think there will be any stadium touring this time round. Hopefully there's going to be a chance to play some of their more darker and stripped back songs of times past on this tour. Trouble, Amsterdam, A Rush of Blood To The Head? I would be more than happy to see them drop Fix You and maybe, just maybe Clocks could do with a bit of a rest?
Of course they could just extend their shows to at least 2 hours and not have to deal with the inevitability of dropping some classics. I think this is the more realistic option!
Of course when Chris Martin discussed 'low key gigs' with a fellow gym member it may well have meant very little touring indeed. It's not so unusual. R.E.M. were a band who would never feel obliged to go on tour with the release of each album. When arguably their two biggest albums were released (Automatic For The People and Out Of Time) they didn't do any touring whatsoever.

I was wondering about an EP too. And yes I sincerely hope there will be a world tour. They looked like they enjoyed the MX tour so much, they all love playing live. It would be a tragedy if they didn't, but I think they will.

1. I would love an EP but I dont have my hopes up. Remember their albums have to be around 42min. Magic and Midnight are around 5min long (5x9=45). Also don't forget about the bonus songs on the Deluxe edition. And remember MX had 14 songs I think and few of them were just transitions. I'm happy with this.
2. For the iTunes festival, I hope they only perform Magic and Midnight. They can open with Midnight and close with Magic.
3. I don't think they are "half assing" it this era. I'm actually very impressed with them so far. Everything has already been thought out and their vision is very clear this era. We just found out about this 4 days ago and we are already getting a big promo performance next week. And the album release is still weeks away, they have plenty of time to do more promo. And promo is better when it's closer or after the release.

I wonder if they'll do the simple stripped down stage again like they did in the Viva tour, or if they'll have a special section like they did the X-stage again.

Yes! Imagine all the new fans not being able to see them.. there are bound to be new ones who get drawn in during the new era. If they hadn't played Glasto in 2011, I would have missed them entirely!

I hope they do a tour similar to the path they took with the Viva era. They didn't come any places near where I live during the MX tour, and I really want to see them again.

Chris has said many, many times that playing live was what gave them much-needed positive feedback and happiness, not in those exact words but the sentiment is the same, so I cannot imagine them not touring. Maybe stadiums will be left out this time around?

Maybe stadiums will be left out this time around? This! They love playing live, especially Chris. There is no way a tour will be left out this time. But like you said, they might play smaller arenas and leave out stadiums. Who knows, but we will find out eventually. Until then, we at least have the iTunes festival next week!
