Thank you so much Row!! My mom is 1/2 English (her mother was from England) so, we have very English traditions for a bunch of Americans. Crackers are just fun little thing to have, and something I was surprised that not many other people have. It took us a while to get them, sure, but now that we've had them for like 7 years, I feel like we'd lose a "new" tradition. I LOVE seeing my family members wear silly paper crowns at the big dinner we have, makes everyone lighten up a bit and laugh a little more.

Who hasn't stolen cookies like that? I mean, c'mon, my brother and I still do that, and we're like semi-adults.
also - WHAT?! You never had crackers as a kid?! ... that's a shame.

Julia, great news!!! It is a great profession to be a nurse (I am a nurse since 1990) and I have good memories of the 4-year period I was studying for nursing. After that, I specialised in ICU. There are lots of possibilities now for a nurse to study further and become a specialist in several fields - and that is a good thing! You can be proud of yourself that you got your placement!! Enjoy these days :-)!! Oh gosh, wow!! I didn't know that you were a nurse!! That's awesome!! I don't think I could ever do ICU, it's a bit much for me. I think I'd end up working in a psych wing somewhere, pediatric psych has been something I've been thinking about for a long time, but I have been leaning toward the idea of specializing in child development. I've wanted to be an N.P. since I made the decision to go into nursing, but for what, I still have yet to find out! I plan on enjoying every day that I can, I'm very glad that my placement starts so early as well, since I'm only a second semester sophomore! (that's earlier than most colleges/universities in the states ... or at least the ones I'd looked at/know of :P)

Thank you guys!! And it feels great!! I filled out some papers earlier today that the hospital needed (basically saying WHY I was going to be there since I'm not going for a job). I'm a little nervous, though, the e-mail from my advisor said it was "tentative" placement. I dunno if this means that the times will change or the location I'm supposed to go to will change, but I have my fingers crossed that I can stay by campus and just bring my bike up here once Spring rolls around. That's so awesome Julia. I really hope all works out for you. So if I have any questions about EMS care next semester, can I ask you? Uh ... maybe! I dunno, I could certainly try. And thank you, Keaton, I really appreciate it Gotta get finals out of the way now ...

I FINALLY GOT MY PLACEMENT FOR NURSING!!! I'm very thankful I finally got this news, it's been so long of a wait, and while I understand why, it's still annoying to not know where you're going to basically start your future. I'm going to the hospital right by campus, which is excellent, since I don't have a car (yet) and I can walk there if need be. I'm so nervous/excited ....

My nursing demonstration went pretty well, I got points taken off for not having a watch to count pulse and respirations, and I think for flubbing up how to assess the bicep reflex. I got a 27/30, and have successfully passed nursing lab. Woohoo!!
However, I am freaking out about final projects and exams, and I'm thinking I need more full strength coffee. Either that, or several large mugs' worth of strong, black tea.

I have to look in someone's eyes though, it's a physical examination of a body system ... and it's the nervous system, so I gotta examine the cranial nerves, and nerves II, III, IV, and VI are all related to the eyes!!
I know what you mean though, and thank you all for the kind words and advice. It actually helps a lot. I feel like I bug people when I freak out about demonstrations or presentations, but ... I have to talk about it or else I'm gonna freak out more! It's just very stressful and makes me nervous, I've never really examined someone at such a great length before. I've been told by others in my class that it's easier than it sounds, you just have to know what you're doing and explain why, but still ... it's literally pass or fail, and I canNOT fail.

Thank you, Prissie!! Even though I know Thanksgiving is an American thing, happy Thanksgiving to everyone on here!! I know that may seem a bit odd, but I have met and celebrated with people who were not from the states for Thanksgiving, and it's something I hope everyone can enjoy! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!
