Why did I have to be home this weekend? It's fun and all, but I'm not motivated to do anything now that I've been out and about in the city ... freaking history paper :P
And Keaton, c'mon, you CAN sing!! I've heard you sing before, and you just gotta blow those clouds away. I know that's not easy, but sometimes the solution is as simple as getting a list made of s**t to do and going whatever's on that list. I dunno what's brought about your sudden loss of singing, but when I feel like I can't draw, it's usually a bunch of anxieties that, once I write 'em down, I tackle 'em head on and then get stuff done. That's when my sketchbook can come back out and not be full of self-stress-out cartoons.
EDIT: Holy crap, that mask ... I really have to applaud those that go through so much for the perfect costume. My brother and I usually made our own, and that mask is leaps and bounds over the kinds of crafts our limited painting/sewing skills could muster as kids. Your son is gonna have on heck of a halloween with that.

Art bringing people together Julia, I like it. Yeah ... it's all kinds of mushy and junk. Dude!! Keep drawing!!! (sorry, just a thing with me, I love to see people's drawings and ... I dunno, I don't want to "lose" drawing because I'm going into a profession that has NOTHING to do with art. Quite the opposite.) And the sketchbook doesn't ALWAYS see as much use as I'd like, since I know some of my professors are not big fans of people "being distracted" in their classes, but whatever. My sketchbook has been another discussion point, and while it's sacred property to me, I do show people SOME stuff. ... I actually kind of got together with my boyfriend because I let him flip through my sketchbook, something he knew I'd not let the other people we were hanging out with do ... *mushy-silly-cute story* Haha ok I will try! (Forgot to bring my sketchbook today though, good start!) Oh that's cool :O Don't forget your sketchbook! Otherwise your notebook ends up cluttered with doodles in the back ... stuff like this: {Spoiler} Just a warning ... my religion notebook is full of stuff like this ... I have to forget my sketchbook a lot, busy days are busy as all get out (bio class and nursing class, along with their respective labs today, yeah!!)

I know what you mean, I was the girl who refused to listen to pop like Justin Bieber and blasted AC/DC instead of subjecting my ears to "pop-y trash". I mean, being a big fan of Coldplay DID help me with social stuff, but the band shirt thing sounds good! I would also recommend having a book you like reading near by ... something very common I've seen the freshman do on campus here is carry around John Green books. Not just "The Fault in our Stars" (even if that be the most common) but "Paper Towns" and "An Abundance of Katherines" too. I personally carry around my sketchbook (it's no secret I draw throughout my lectures) but still, that's me. Gets the Theater Majors' attention a lot, oddly enough. Good luck though! I hope everything goes well Damn, yes! I love drawing too but I barely draw anymore, the sketchbook is a VERY good call! Dude!! Keep drawing!!! It is hard, I'm not going to deny that. I wish I could help you out, because I literally FORCED myself out of my shyness last year and did the thing I don't always like doing, show off my drawings. I admit, I'm proud of my work and share it online with people, but I know that going around in real life and being like "LOOK AT THIS ISN'T IT NEAT?! I DREW IT!!" is a bit of a no-no. Back on topic, say "hey, have you guys heard of this song, [insert song title of choice here]?" You could say you have it on your phone and want to know their opinions of it. I know they could say "I don't know that song" but you could then say "It's by [insert band name here]?" and they could still give you a blank stare or be like, "OH! You mean the band that did [insert other, probably more popular song here]!" and you could talk about it from there. I did this with my friend when we first met (this person is now my roommate), asked her if she'd seen this show called "Starship" and she didn't (not right away anyway), but I said that it's by the same people who did "A Very Potter Musical" and she started to freak out and we fangirled over the actors in the shows. It's just a start, and from there, who knows? I wish you the best of luck though

Just gonna jump in here, but maybe talk about music taste instead? I know that's a gamble, because you're gonna get people who ADORE the pop boy bands and not something you're into, but it's a start. And who knows, could lead into something about cute band members ... just saying.

... I've missed a lot on here ...
Anyway, I've been thinking about communication recently, specifically the failure to communicate. We've discussed this a lot in nursing because we're doing practical stuff in lab (i.e. taking vitals and practicing patient interviews) and it's become clear to me how easily details are missed by not asking certain questions. You could take someone's blood pressure on the wrong arm, or the wrong part of the arm, and end up causing harm or getting a way off reading which would have you raise an eyebrow and lead to a bunch of confusion and potential misdiagnosis. It's more than kind of stressful to think about.

Lucky!! And one of my books was a package kind of deal for one of my nursing classes, and it was almost 300 bucks alone ... (also, something tells me you and I go to very different unis)

Thank you Row, means a lot! And I'm so anxious to be back on campus. I didn't want to leave after we finished unpacking a bit from early move-in, it was like leaving home to go ... well, home. I know that sounds strange, but my campus is as much "home" as my tiny little town is.

Too late for that. Textbooks were a little over $700, and half of them are rentals.

Right, so, thank you to all of you who responded to my college post of excitement and anxiousness. I really appreciate all the kind words and reassurance that I'm not going to lose it. I already moved in a fair amount of my stuff, just gotta get the rest of my textbooks, and notebooks, and all my desk stuff, back when actual move-in hits.
And I'm getting super excited and happy the summer's ending. I know a lot of people aren't, but my cousin's getting married (so happy for her!!) and I get to FINALLY go back to college and see all of my friends and get to be with my boy again after not being able to see him for almost 3 months. Life is good.

I'm freaking out, both in a good and bad way, because COLLEGE IS COMING UP SO FAST AND I CANNOT WAIT BUT OH MY GOD COLLEGE!!! I mean, I do not live too far away from where I go to university, so it's not hard to just be like, "hey, mom/dad, can you come get me this weekend because I [insert reason for going home here]?" but STILL! I'm just so excited!! I'm also super nervous, because I mean, I made it through freshman year, but my nursing classes are actually like, "Okay, so, you're going into the hospital next semester, so you better not mess this up too hard or else you might have to change majors."
I know I'm being a bit dramatic with that, but still, that's kind of a fear in the back of my mind.
