Hopefully its one of those singles that is released that doesn't make it to the album. The only thing Im confused about is that there is no where to buy it yet. Is that normal? If not maybe the autotune is just for the video and they will release an acoustic later for the album.

"In the darkness, before dawn In the swirling, of the storm Running without our punches and hope is gone, Even I have a light on" It may be a lullaby for one of their kids? When they can't sleep at night... But the first 3 minutes of listening to it I was like, "ummmmmm" but then the beat got up and I was like, "here we go" then that ending. But as I sat there in disbelief it started playing over in my head, and it started growing on my like some disease. So I listened to it a second time and it took over my whole body, the song is actually great! Totally new and strange which is a bit nerve racking for us loyal fans but we just have to trust them! I just dislike one thing... Not much jonny :( Thanks for the lyrics But yea all you can really hear is Chris, you can't hear Jonny at all :(

The acoustic version of Yellow that Chris sung during the MX era uses those those harmonization. -http://youtu.be/aeCX8UiAIoM?t=2m27s
It's not really autotune. It just sounds like it because the computer is making his voice harmonize with himself making it sound less human.

Video: Coldplay: Coldplay's most recent record, Mylo Xyloto, was released back in 2011. Today they've shared the first hint at a new record via the atmospheric video for "Midnight" (which seems to suggest that Chris Martin has spent a fair amount of time with Bon Iver...) The video was directed by Mary Wigmore.

I really like it. Better than MX, less commercial. It's very different from what I expected (first thought: what. Is this coldplay?) and I'm not sure I want the entire album sound like this but I'm really looking forward to it now!

Coldplay - MidnightColdplay will release their sixth LP later this year, and today, they’ve dropped a brand new track. “Midnight” may or may not appear on the full-length — no confirmation on that yet — but if this is the sound they’re going for, I approve. It’s the band at their most spacious and ambient, stripped down to a ghostly essence. (I can hear a little “Beth/Rest” on the vocals.) It comes with a video, directed by Mary Wigmore.

I have only had a chance to listen to it bit by bit since I'm here at work, so I haven't done it justice, but from what I've heard, I love it. Good words to describe it for me is haunting, dreamy, and as K said, ambient. I love how different it is! Of course, this doesn't mean the album will be the same as this, but from what I heard, I think it sounds beautiful. I need headphones to appreciate it! Are we sure there's auto tune? I thought Debs said they would never use it. ?

Does anybody think there might be cryptic/hidden messages in the video about lp6? No What a bold and original thing that would be though! Back in the day you had to carefully choose singles to shoot videos for, since it was really expensive. In this day and age, with HD/4k cameras and equipment getting more affordable all the time - it makes (financial) sense for Beyonce to drop all her videos at once. So what I'm trying to say is, if it's all a clue to LP6 that will be really awesome. Having said that, I don't think they actually did that. It's a new single - and yes, I get tinges of Sugar Ros and Imogen Heap. Nothing bad about it!

I see it as a "grower" kind of song. I like it now more than I did at first listen. Very interested to see what LP6 will be like now that we've heard this...........

Watch: Coldplay Make Surprise Return With ‘Midnight’Coldplay's returning single 'Midnight' is unexpected in several ways. 1) It's a standalone single, released out of the blue. 2) It sees the band recruiting vocoder for the first time. They end up sounding a little like Bon Iver, only with more twinkling bells and obviously a lot more Chris Martin. There's none of the nu-rave-revivalism of last album 'Mylo Xyloto'. Glowsticks could be appropriate, at a push. Actually thinking about this, this song could go into full on 'Coldplay party mode' in an instant. Instead it gets very darkwave-y and mindblowingly synth-y. Watch/listen below. Jon Hopkins produces.

The coldplay website has changed too, all it shows is the video for midnight.
edit: I also just noticed that there is a red diamond between the words coldplay and midnight on the tab itself, don't know if that means anything.
