I'm just really grateful that this music is rich and heartfelt. Always In Head just pulls at my heart strings.... it perfectly captures that feeling of yearning. Chris' singing makes me feel so sad, but Jonny's guitar is just so beautiful and uplifting. It's a wondrous swirl of emotion.
Not to mention Will is silky smooth and punchy on this track.
Rrrrgggggg!!!! I'm so proud of what they're doing right now!!! Thank you Coldplay, this is a graceful return to the "old sound" and it's so great!!!

Jonny's guitar is lovely in this. I cannot wait for the album, just can't wait. I think O will be a departure, I predict it will be loud and gorgeous!

I'm still wary, but I have only heard the new songs once. Bad songs I'll dislike instantly, good songs can take a little longer to hit me. Another's Arms is going towards interesting. Always in my head has a Parachutes feel, which is great. Still, on first listen, not convinced. I also think the lyrics are lacking, but they weren't worse than the Magic ones. PS. I keep hitting 'view all smilies' when I want to hit the 'post' button.

I love both the new songs, but Another's Arms stuck in my head. I've only listened to them once but I feel like the songs really fit with the album's title. Both had a more ethereal sound then MX and Another's Arms has that wailing effect that, to me, is very ghostly. I'm with the group that instantly liekd these songs. They made the right choice showing us Midnight first. The other songs share basic similarities with it, but with Midnight it is to the extreme. I'm glad to see that Magic is a hit because there was definitely a risk of isolating mainstream fans with this album, but honestly I think this will be one of the band's best albums.

I'm experiencing a strange satisfaction that people who loved MX aren't "getting" the new songs (not all of them of course). I'm absolutely in love with all four tracks and everything about the new era. Its all very reminiscent of the old Coldplay I fell in love with centuries ago. I don't really understand a lot of the hate on Coldplaying. But then again I was one of those very haters during the MX period so maybe its just different tastes.

I haven't even gone to coldplaying since the show. I'm not interested in hearing a bunch of whining and petty arguments.

While I didn't "hate"'MX, it didn't agree with me. It didnt resonate with me like all the other albums. And I'm sure many others that have been with the boys from the start felt the same way. We all wanted the old Coldplay sound, and they delivered, and added a new twist to it as well. I am so far totally satisfied, Another's Arms is unreal to me. That song gave me chills right off the bat. ... I love the direction they are heading in. I haven't been on Coldplaying lately, and it sucks to hear that people aren't digging these songs. This is the kind of music I was hoping they would put out again, and I'm pretty damn happy right now.

I thought today the vibes on Coldplaying are much better. People seem to really like Always in my Head. I'm going to wait until May before I make up my mind.

I like MX but it didn't have the same Coldplay special feeling for me as the others previous albums. I think it was overproduced and many of the songs didn't translate well in the studio. After hearing too many times I was done. It's the only one (maybe X&Y too, but not too much) of their albums that I started to get tired of listening. Ghost Stories is getting me way more excited. It feels like Coldplay with the best thing they got from Mylo Xyloto.

^It would be way cool if it were true, especially since we know Chris and at least Phil are in California. You might be right, though, with the #notreally hashtag. I guess we will find out soon enough. Thanks for the find!!
As for MX, I'm one of those that loved it AND get the new songs. I don't want to venture off onto MX in the GS thread, but since it was brought up, I will just say here what I said there. For me, I really do like every album on its own merits. MX gets a hard time from some, but Viva was a departure as well. Actually, to me, every album shows a different side to CP, and it's my feeling that's what they wanted. I'm not a musician, but I would think while it's good to develop a 'sound', does anyone want to be pigeon holed into that particular sound forever? I would think it would be the death of a band to sound the same every album without a bit of difference, but that's just me. They truly fall into a 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' category a lot of the time - more than any band I can remember. Chris spent a lot of his interview time this past era saying that they felt free and more relaxed to like different kinds of music and show those influences. MX had a lot of really upbeat, vibrant, fun songs, and the concerts were undeniably amazing. I feel like a protective older sister to MX because I think the band really had more fun this go 'round, felt more comfortable and seemed really upbeat and happy, which was great to see.
But that said, I love, love the new songs so far and am REALLY excited to see what they have in store for us this time. I agree with others that I think they might still have an Ace up their sleeves, and I'm chomping at the bit to hear what it is. May 19 cannot get here soon enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In my reflective mood, I just want to say how incredibly nice it is to be around a group of people who are able to give their opinions and discuss them and hash them out in a reasonable way. So grateful. THANKS!!!

The #notreally was in reference to the other (stupid) hashtag about an undisclosed location. I don't even doubt they're filming something.
